AI should be publicly owned: Max Planck scientist Matteo Valleriani calls for freely accessible large language models (LLMs). Ethics, not profit, should drive development.

@lamb so it went up? 😅

Did you checked it with the same way for the Debug build?

But again the RAM usage could also be depending on how much RAM the system is providing. With more RAM available leading to more RAM being used by Godot to prevent loading times. I don't know much about how Godot is handling it's RAM usage. But I'm sure it's not a easy interpretation from "one test level used 40 MB so 10x bigger Level would need 400mb"

Perhaps just test how big you level can get on the system.

@lamb Just assumptions 😅

But that would be the first thing I would check. Maybe compare the RAM usage of Debug and Production Build from the Operating System. That could give a hint.

@lamb And yes having some like MIDI music could potentially help as well but my last assumption would be that the number of tracks you would need to load into RAM simultaneously would be very limited and storage capacity overall is not your concern.

Of course I don't have much experience on trying to minimize RAM usage with Godot so don't trust blindly to what I say.

From the screenshot it looks like you are doing things right from an art style perspective.

@lamb Ok my first assumption is, that this 40MB is the overhead that is coming from Godot itself because it's not radical concerned about RAM as a modern game engine. I think it can perhaps get smaller. Did you switched away from debug build?

My second assumption is that the actual game data will not grow very much from here on, as long as you stay to a very N64 like approach for your assets. Reusing small textures, clever UV mapping, limiting number of different objects at once...

@lamb how is one test room of a Nintendo64-like game already taking 40mb? That's like almost the full cartridge.

Don't know what you doing but I feel like that should be much smaller. Perhaps some of the optimisation techniques from back then can help.

@sinabhfuil @CllrKarenPower the over 55 is kind of what would be expected... Younger people most often have no time to get active in politics, because they are to busy making more money for the white millionaires 🙂

@dbat @afreytes could be a cool name for a Game... Or a new twitch feature.

@afreytes but at some point I lost the ability again, potentially because my fear of pee accidents was gone.

Nowadays, I don't sleep that well anymore. Rembering any of my dreams has become rare. Perhaps I should start training it again but first step for that would potentially be getting a better sleep. 😄

@afreytes it's where lucid dreaming becomes possible.

Fun story: I think I "accidentally" conditioned myself into lucid dreaming as a kid without knowing anything about this. Just because I hat a pee accident in bed when I dreamed I would go to the toilet... That was so embarrassing for me, that I wanted to make sure that I am really awake every time I went to the WC. 😅

At some point I was able to detect that I was dreaming while I dreamed and with time a learned to better control it.

@afreytes Yes that's some strange stuff. Sometimes I have memories of fictional months or years of events in my dream without ever dreaming of actually being in this events...

For me I'm mostly myself in my dreams but sometimes my physical appearance changes. I remember looking like Wladimir Klitschko in one of my dreams. It adapts to the situation I'm in.

All very fascinating how all rules of reality suddenly can stop but it all makes sense while you're dreaming.

@afreytes I dream in third person(often)... I think that's a very Movie/Videogame enthusiast thing.

@variety_feed actually I started watching it without knowing the original and I very much like it so far.

It has a very refreshing style.

I started watching the #Netflix #Kakegurui LA series. I'm not familiar with the original series so looked it up and I found out that the original seam very different...

And I must admit I very much like the adaptation so far. The style, the characters, the over-the-top attitude... If you a fan of the original I could imagine you might not like what they made out of you manga/anime but if you don't know the original this is actually very refreshing.

@luigirenna You never know what cats intended 😂

@danielalbu it's so bizarre... This add just for "the final" episode. And it even has a time to it. Imagine you came home at 7:15... What a crazy world it was.

THE RED STEP (1988)
Acrylic on Canvas - 44" x 33"

The initial impetus for doing the painting was being stuck in the first real artistic block I've ever had. I was probably clinically depressed. 1/4

Trailing long shadows, small robed figures climb a monumental set of stairs leading through a massive wall. The rough concrete exterior is grimy, rust stained, and worn through to rebar in patches while the side walls forming the passage are glossy and smooth. On the other side, the sun burns pale behind layers of thick fog. The last three steps tint golden with the transition to a flat platform. Low in the sky beyond, a transparent sphere containing a solitary flame flares in a starburst that casts a glare back down the stairs. Light intersects a squat red step nearly hidden—despite its color—because it spans less than one-third the width of the transitional steps. Only one figure, now nearing the top of the stairs, is illuminated by the light that crosses it.

@Anachron @Gargron that's really a thing with images but more with animations.

This one e.g. works best for me. I somehow here the shockwave...
