Opened Obsidian to check something about how the editor works (I still have fundamental issues with the way it looks/works), landed upon the Daily Notes interface and immediately started typing a diary entry for the day. It would probably do me good to get into the habit of doing that.

I don’t want the LLM to have any information I didn’t give it in this specific session. Especially if you’re using OpenAI who are intrinsically suspicious (there’s a bunch of reports of memory persisting after being wiped, and it’s really hard to imagine how that could happen accidentally)

I’ve added “if you give me code use tabs not spaces” to the initialization and that’s it, any other context I bring up in the prompt

At one point I set up a Shortcuts integration on another phone so I could iMessage ChatGPT, but never really used it, I don't remember why. In retrospect that was probably a very good thing ^^

@nicolasf Huh, really? Maybe it’s because I’m using a UI that doesn’t feel like messaging at all (I’m using the Claude plugin for Raycast), it’s not really a problem I have

- the face on the right is in the foreground so it has to be inset because the design language says icon details are inset in a big rounded square
- if the background is blue and the foreground is white, the blue will show through it because everything has to be transparent because we said it has to
- besides we hate color so the more white the better

And it doesn’t look like our design overlords hold the Mac in much reverence so who cares about tradition

Aaaand this is why I do not say “please” and “thank you” to LLMs. It helps me remember that they just create statistical word salad that often happens to be useful.

Edit: I forgot an aspect of my Claude usage. I go through a Raycast plugin, and it doesn’t look *at all* like a chat window, unlike all the official integrations that do everything they can to make you forget the LLM isn’t a person.

I've been wondering about that and I don't think Apple is gonna *want* the effect to be reproducible in a web page? But it’d be funny if Chromium implemented a one-line CSS filter for it ^^

I’m scrolling through my own blog thinking about a redesign, and it’s bothering my visual cortex that the content blocks don't refract the background image 🤦🤦🤦

@brandonhorst Yeah visionOS is just frosted glass, and from what I've read it’s *still* frosted glass in version 26. No doubt that the refraction effects are a lot more expensive. And visionOS has entire windows made of glass being rendered by the dedicated compositor chip 🤕 (which was not designed at all to handle this)

On the other hand “no glass on glass” is also completely inconsistent on the iOS beta: buttons on glass panes are flat, but glass panes can have glass toolbar items 🙃

I kinda want to remake my personal site adding an automatic foil effect to my photos. But the summer heat waves have just started, so I'll just make a note of it for when my brain starts working again in September.
