@eigengott Leider bist du deiner Zeit voraus, die SA wurde erst am 2.5.2000 abgeschaltet, darum gibt es bei Groundspeak erst morgen das Souvenir zum Blue-Switch-Day.

We're 7 years after the publication of NIST 800-63 on best practice guidance for modern passwords and I still talk to large companies stuck in the past trying to enforce silly password rules and mandatory 90 day rotations. Pretty sure I'm still going to be having these discussions at the 10 year anniversary.

Google asks every app to have a Privacy Policy to be accepted in the Play Store. So, xScreenSaver had to write a privacy policy.

@GossiTheDog Hah. This is weird, but not that kind of weird, I strongly suspect.

Although I wouldn't mind getting that farm.

Marc Stevens came up with a new kind of MD5 collisions:
alphanum, no space, single byte difference (always +4), and not even 2 blocks!

No more high entropy collision blocks!

md5("TEXTCOLLBYfGiJUETHQ4hAcKSMd5zYpgqf1YRDhkmxHkhPWptrkoyz28wnI9V0aHeAuaKnak")
=
md5("TEXTCOLLBYfGiJUETHQ4hEcKSMd5zYpgqf1YRDhkmxHkhPWptrkoyz28wnI9V0aHeAuaKnak")

Use `echo -n` to test otherwise it outputs a newline char, which will get wrong results.

Leider!

Let's start Apollo 17 with some placenames. The valley between the two massifs is called the Taurus-Littrow Valley, from the Taurus Mountains and Littrow crater, both north of the valley. SWP is the Science Working Panel, a group who worked on site selection for this mission. MOCR is the Mission Operations Control Room (i.e. Mission Control). Fitzgibbon... not a name used during the mission and it's a fun story so we will come back to it later. Tomorrow: a closer look.

Names of craters and other features at the Apollo 17 landing site.

The Apollo 12 landing site was in a different mare basalt area, expected to be younger than the Apollo 11 site. It was to be a 'pinpoint landing' within walking distance of a science target, in this case Surveyor 3. This map shows planning for EVAs in the area depending on the landing point. The original target was northeast of Surveyor but accuracy couldn't be predicted. Each potential site had EVAs laid out to show what might be explored. The Snowman was a landmark to guide the landing.

A map of the Apollo 12 landing site showing possible landing points and the paths astronauts might follow from each point. A distinctive pattern of craters was called The Snowman.
