@karolherbst drivers move too quickly for such things to be realistically feasible, and the people knowledgeable enough to do decent back porting, too busy with doing the actual work.

quite often fixes involve large changes that one would not want to backport.

distros should just suck it up and stop giving their users horrifically outdated drivers due to $POLICY without considering that gfx drivers are a totally different beast than the rest of their software stack (like browsers are... which they already bend the rules for...)
