I implemented the most requested feature: now KMP library wizard generates a sample app (depend on targets).
Also I did:
- updated steps to publish your library on MavenCentral (just follow few simple steps - it is really easy!)
- updated all dependencies
- cleaned and modernised generated build configs
@terrakok when you say "updated steps to publish your library on MavenCentral (just follow few simple steps - it is really easy!)" is that a readme in the generated project, or where are those steps? I must be missing something I think π
I pushed the button on jetc.dev Newsletter Issue #244! A Compose Multiplatform alpha! @seb on Markdown! Hot reload! Presentation! Sprites! Calendars! https://jetc.dev/issues/244 #JetpackCompose #AndroidDev
@pixellight Every time
@tjeerdintveen @botteaap that's good news, so I can spill water on it no problem right?
@ab Yeah that was absolutely a not so fun first introduction to the platform. There were a bunch of android devs eager to see what's going on with the app itself. And everyone was met with... whatever that behavior was.
@ab yeah, that's pretty much what I've seen too. Me included to be honest. I really miss interacting with android devs like I used to a long time ago on Twitter, so I am just "chasing that high" if that makes sense. And I suppose many others are doing the same.
New #JetpackReleaseNotes include bug fixes in Navigation 2.8.4 and Paging 3.3.4, PDF 1.0.0-alpha04 with support back to Android 12, and KotlinX Serialization Support in SavedState 1.3.0-alpha05 and Lifecycle 2.9.0-alpha07. π

@dgmltn good thing we no longer need to use them then π
@zsmb13 probably a regret in the initial name, but not so much as to be worth a full depreciation cycle + keeping it in there as hidden forever for backwards compatibility reasons.
Naming is hard π
@ab you're joking but I bet they'll consider that a win https://androiddev.social/@gakisstylianos/113472038623310713
There is absolutely no way you can make these policy changes without wanting to get rid of developers self publishing things.
@pixellight @cb If their OKRs is "# of developer accounts closed", they got this feature juuuust right
We'll have a workshop all about Compose Multiplatform at KotlinConf 2025, led by myself and Victor Kropp, the team lead of Compose Multiplatform, where we'll go through everything you need to know about CMP!
Grab your ticket today while they're available!
I just pushed out jetc.dev Newsletter Issue #240! @cbruegg on Compose 1.7 and compatibility! @eevis on rendering text in a Canvas! @sinasamaki and a centered slider! @touchlab with a Compose-Swift bridge! And... is NavigationSuiteScaffold() FAB?!? https://jetc.dev/issues/240 #JetpackCompose #AndroidDev
@zsmb13 I would call not using Kotlin much more than just "slightly" unusual π
@mb Bold move to start with 0.0.0 instead of 0.0.1 π
@melix right, and buying a domain, and learning how to work with GPG keys, and all the anxiousness to not mess any of these steps over.
While the alternative is you put a link to your GH repo and that's pretty much it. Not to mention that googling for how to do this you'll get 20 different results, all with different answers. What you showed me here is also something new to me.
Look, I also avoid jitpack, and I have published a library to maven Central, but simple isn't the word to describe it.
