I’m not in favour of the monarchy in general, but in order to abolish it, you need a way to generate a head of state who isn’t just hideously corrupt, activelya fascist or who’s using the post as a springboard to go and earn obscene money afterwards as a consultant for corporations.

Give me that and I’ll vote for it. Otherwise I can’t help but worry the replacement would be worse.

I never understood why Bones, a show about how you apply the scientific method in order to solve murders, had a crossover with Sleepy Hollow, where the protagonist was brought back after spending two hundred years dead.

This means that magic is real and you can’t trust anything. Dr Brennan’s rationalist worldview is objectively wrong. How she and the show didn’t descend into literal madness is beyond me.

Although come to think about it, I can't exactly deploy my own Signature Look Of Superiority, since the Brits are only about 75% through the transition we started in the 70s. Liquids are sold in litres, fuel efficiency is still miles per gallon. Signs are in miles, schools teach metric, people still usually use feet and inches for height, pounds and stone(!) for weight of people but kilos for packages and cars.
And I somehow managed to not learn imperial, so I've no real grasp of how much weight someone has lost when they've dropped a stone. I work in metric because I'm a rebel. Or just weird...

I saw a video about this the other week. Apparently, the legal definitions for the Imperial units in the States... ARE BASED ON METRIC UNITS. It's literally just Metric with added math.
