Today at Geoff Wilbur's Music Blog, I reviewed 80s Kids, an impeccably-delivered album of '80s hits from talented singer-songwriter @shannoncurtis – it's absolutely worth checking out! (Also, this is the first time I've reviewed someone who I know also has a Mastodon account, so I just had to share it here.) Here's the link to my #albumreview geoffwilburmusic.com/2025/06/1

Here's a link to IDC's 2024 U.S. Printer and MFP Market Shares report. The report is behind a paywall, but the landing page includes this "analyst quote" from me:

"Print vendors saw another year of declining shipments and value in 2024, as the return to office continued to slow while economic uncertainty continued to suppress business growth. ASPs, which were boosted by return-to-office purchases to help drive value growth in 2023, fell back to 2022 levels as the market mix shifted back toward lower-priced printers and MFPs. As vendors pursue opportunities in the current tepid economic climate, success will be determined by the extent to which each vendor's product offerings meet current and evolving business needs." — Geoffrey Wilbur, research manager, Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions at IDC

If anyone here is interested in music, I just posted a new review at my music blog tonight. It's of two singles, "Kryptonite" and "By June," from talented young singer-songwriter Erin Gibney. Here's the link. geoffwilburmusic.com/2025/03/1

Here's something we recently published at IDC. I co-authored it with Tim Greene. It's the latest, updated worldwide and U.S. device and print management market share report. As usual, it's behind a paywall, but there's always an "analyst quote" where I give a few high-level thoughts about industry trends, so maybe that'll be of interest to you.

I'm still not sure what to share here. On X, I share press releases and news articles about companies in the industries I cover at work. On most social media, I share anything I write for work (well, links to the pages about the reports, which usually include a high-level "analyst quote" on the landing pages for non-subscribers).

Also, on all social media, I share music reviews I publish at my music blog, through which I maintain my music journalism avocation that I started while in grad school and which has always been a side-gig, never a career focus, but it's a lot of fun. You know, where others might like to golf in their spare time, I write music reviews.

I post sporadically about sports once in a blue moon, but that's not really ever going to be the main focus of a social medium for me.

So, any suggestions? I could just stick to posting occasionally about the reports I write for work and commenting when someone else posts something interesting.

How should I use Mastodon?

I know I've not yet connected with my imaging and printing followers here on Mastodon yet, but if you're here, check out this new IDC forecast report I cowrote with my colleague Tim Greene: Worldwide Document Imaging Scanner Forecast, 2023–2027. Only subscribers will see the report at this link, but there's always an analyst quote worth seeing at the landing page. (This time, it's Tim's quote.) idc.com/getdoc.jsp?containerId

@taylorlorenz Chart 2 is definitely something that doesn't get enough play in news coverage.

@MattEastwood Can't believe I just thought to look for you here. Haven't really done anything with Mastodon since signing up, but I check occasionally to see if there's tech community activity that warrants an increased presence.
