It looks like the first thing you posted is a lazy rewrite of the real announcement... It makes me wonder if that's a real news site or a fake AI news site...

Interesting. I don't see a link to the offer, do you know where it is?
“The little editor that could” about half an hour about ed from Kay Lack.
I was re-reading one of the Nero Wolfe mysteries, *Gambit* (1962), and one of the other characters challenges Wolfe to a game of chess. They have no equipment, so they both play blindfold. They play into the Queen's Gambit Declined, and Wolfe, with the white pieces, plays 3. Nf3, but his opponent is expecting the book move 3. Nc3 and can't continue without a board. I wondered, which is better? Stockfish says Nf3 is worse (20 ACPL), but it scores slightly better in master-level play.
@roberth Thanks for the suggestion! I got further with this, but now I've bumped into an issue around the clever way the test VM is built (where parts of the Nix Store are mounted from the host), so I guess I need to migrate this experiment into a full-blown VM installation of NixOS. I'll look at that some other day.
I got curious and tried to configure #NixOS to run the #Nix daemon as a non-root user. It *kinda* worked; the deamon starts up, but fork-bombs the system as soon as you try to do anything: https://github.com/gmacon/nix-daemon-rootless

I just made this silly but accurate thing. I'm silly too and i love it, but also i'm serious in my silliness.
omg rust is woke. it's good actually. https://diziet.dreamwidth.org/19480.html
I'd say this is true, but not the right question. Specifically, iMessage allows sending unencrypted messages (SMS or RCS messages to non-Apple devices), which is a meaningful security difference, but it's not a difference *in the encryption*. Put another way, blue bubble messages are equivalent to Signal or WhatsApp, but green bubble messages are not.
@nairou Once I got nix-index-database working (with the shim module as described) command-not-found (and comma) started working again.

I've published a new blog post about converting my #nix configuration from Flakes to npins.
