@jardo ah yes, multiple cruft packs. My favorite kind of pack.

I am testing out this new vs code extension for better handling erb files and so far it seems really nice! ruby.social/@marcoroth/1147182

Gonna go ahead and say that is too many degrees.

@jhankins I scroll bsky occasionally and definitely get a stronger, old-school twitter doomscroll vibe over there.

Wind Waker is an excellent example of how well a game can hold up when the grahical aesthetic is highly stylized, rather than aiming for realism. It still looks great over 20 years later.

Using the Switch 2 for its true intended purpose: playing Wind Waker.

2025-06-17

One thing I’m so glad Nintendo changed with the Switch 2 is the mechanism for sending screenshots to your phone.

Previously, you’d go through a process of scanning a QR code to connect to an ad-hoc network to download pics directly from the device. It worked but it felt janky AF.

Now, everything just uploads to an app. 😮‍💨

@pointlessone @soulcutter Yes, very much this.

And I think that, in order to be really effective with this stuff, it definitely helps a ton to also understand the underlying css anyway. Much like using an ORM without understanding the SQL it generates. You still gotta learn that stuff at some point.

2025-06-17

@soulcutter I would argue that I’m still learning arcane knowledge, under another name.

Tailwind is just inline styles but “trendy” so it’s cool I guess.

What I picture when you mention CoPilot.

I adored Remedy’s Control, so it’s disappointing to see them fall into the trap of live service games with Firebreak. I’m not sure if fans really wanted this. polygon.com/review/607291/fbc-

@jardo Wild. I really hope it gets picked up by someone, given its extensive use in the ruby community.

A four-panel comic strip

Panel 1: A woman with dark hair sits at a desk, looking at a man lying on a couch. Behind him is a large sign that says "FUNDING." The man asks, "So, why should I fund your lab?" with a bored expression.

Panel 2: The woman from Panel 1 is now standing, holding a piece of paper, and looking sad. She says, "We solved the Eindinger equation. We have a complete model of all physics." The man from Panel 1, now visible only by his hand, says "Booooring"

Panel 3: The woman is now at a desk, writing quickly with a red pen. She has a determined expression and says, "Perhaps you'd care to see the equation..."

Panel 4: A close-up of a hand pointing to a complex equation written on a piece of paper. The equation has "AI" written in red next to several terms, as if added as a modification. The man says, "Oh...!" indicating that he is ready to provide funding after reading about "AI"

@j4ck yeah it’s rough. And a bummer because otherwise it’s a really beautiful Mario Kart game!

2025-06-11

I do think this could be somewhat easily addressed by adding a classic mode option. I don’t know if they’d ever do that, but it’d make the game a lot more enjoyable to me.

2025-06-11

I’m still on the fence about Mario Kart World. I’ll say this: I miss the old 3-lap races.

You spend most of your time driving cross country from one track to the next. These segments consist of many long, boring straightaways.

Once you finally arrive at the destination track you only get to do a single lap, and then it’s over. It’s frustrating and disappointing every time.
