@mattgrayyes @jonty i like it. After all, those jacks individually work in any orientation. Even better than USB-C? 🤔🫣

@b0rk @mwl that sounds cool!
I've hosted my mail for a long while, but I stopped because of some challenges with the big hosters. I will pick up that book for sure, there is always something to learn.

@glow have you read Gideon the Ninth? Its not exactly romance, but it is queer. :blob_rainbowheart:

@delroth yeah, I figured. Thanks for the response nonetheless.

@delroth I know I'm way late to this post but still. Do you or anyone else know similar stories about vlang.io/ or ziglang.org/ ?

Updating the Performance Inequality Gap series [1] (post soon), but here's a teaser: new CPU charts, by price band. Single-core perf matters for web apps, and I won't sugarcoat; it's grim.

The fastest Androids are half as fast as contemporary iPhones (now 4+ years behind) and volume devices (~$300USD) are 1/5th as fast as iPhones.

Building for iPhones erects walls around wealth and precludes effective access to participation in society for those without means.

A chart of Geekbench 5 multi-core scores across a range of price-points.

TL;DR: The Performance Inequality Gap continues to grow, with iOS devices more than 2 years ahead of even the fastest Androids, and more than 5x faster than mid-range Android devices (which constitute most sales).A chart of Geekbench 5 single-core scores across a range of price-points.

The Performance Inequality Gap is largest here, and is accelerating. This matters to the web because single-core perf dominates web page loading and interactivity. The fastest Androids are 4.5 years behind iOS devices, and mid-range Androids remain 1/5th as fast as top-end iOS phones.

Low-end Androids? Almost 1/10th as fast as the shiny iPhone in your pocket.

@b0rk That's a super cool idea! I love the info sheet and the graph! 😍

(PS: I had a weird issue. `history` only showed the last 10-20 commands. I tried to look up that issue, and that seems to be ✨ a thing✨ on zsh. `bash` and `zsh` might be `fc -l 1 -1` to show every command in the history.
PPS: I accidentally truncated my history file to 500 lines when starting a `zsh` shell with `--no-rc` 😭)

@Tesseract Welcome 👋 :)

@strandgut @vowe schon, aber trotzdem zeitlich sehr nah beinander.

@SnorriSturlosson Lustig, du sprichst also auch Deutsch.

matrix.fairydust.space is down. Does anybody know what happened?

@glow :( what happened? I only heard loudness.

@vimja ah, nice. 3dware.ch has their house filament from there now as well.

To anyone who isn't sure whether they should come to #cosin2019, just do it!! I will be teaching a workshop on Blender basics (bring a mouse!!!)
And if that's not your cup of tea, check the #fahrplan, there are many awesome events and talks: cosin.ch/de/fahrplan/

@vimja where do you order filament? any recommendations for CH?
