@ronaldsvilcins If you are a frequent email user, you might want to take a look at MailMate (freron.com). IMHO, it is by far the best email client. However, it comes across as somewhat unspectacular. Its power comes from the many small, well-thought-out details. You should at least skim through the manual, as many of its features are not immediately obvious.

@phranck @fhe Gute entscheidung. :) Als kleinen Hinweis noch: die Mailingliste könnte ein paar nützliche Informationen bieten. Und schau dir mal das Correspondence-Layout an. Dann bekommst du neben dem Mail-View immer eine Liste aller Mails, die du mit der betreffenden Person gewechselst hast. Das ist eines meiner Lieblings-Features. Abgesehen von „oh, mit dem/der hab ich schon vor 2 Jahren…“ ist es auch beim Aufräumen hilfreich (CMD-A + Backspace).

Man kann diese hidden Options via `defaults write` setzen. Im Manual sind etliche davon aufgeführt. Eventuell stehen noch ein paar mehr davon in den Release Notes.

Ich hab recht viel an "meinem" MailMate rumgeschraubt – aber nicht zum prahlen krass. :)

@adronia You do NOT need a cloud service. Simply install Cryptomator – that's all. :)

@fhe @phranck Jepp, seit ich MailMate nutze (rund 2010, war bei den frühen Betas schon dabei) bin ich durchgehend auf den Testreleases. Die laufen bei Mailmate so gut wie bei anderen die Betas. :) Sollte doch mal etwas schief gehen, einfach die ältere Version installieren: https://updates.mailmate-app.com/archives/

@fhe @phranck Der Composer kann in einem Tabb geöffnet werden?!? :) Das hab ich nie gesehen. Ich mach einfach CMD+N oder mach ein Reply. Dann öffnet sich immer ein Fenster.

Ach ja: SMIME unterstützt es direkt und GPG via MacGPG. Letzteres hab ich allerdings, an Ermangelung von Kommunikationspartnern mit GPG, schon seit min. 10 Jahren nicht mehr genutzt. Ich kann daher nicht sagen, wie gut es funktioniert.

@adronia You can encrypt any folder you like. It doesn't matter if you synchronise this folder with Dropbox or similar services.

Das Manual durchzusehen lohnt sich, da viele gute Features unscheinbar daher kommen. (2/2)

@phranck MailMate. (freron.com). Nicht von dessen Schlichtheit irritieren lassen. Es hat einige einzigartige Features, wie z.B. intelligente Ordner mit automatisch generierten Unterordnern. Ich hab z.B. einen Ordner „Tags“, der automatisch unterordner für jeden verwendeten Tag erzeugt. Auf diese Weise habe ich immer schnellen Überblick darüber, was ich noch als „Todo“ habe, welche Mails ich noch beantworten muß, auf welche Mails ich noch eine Antwort erwarte etc. – und vieles mehr. @adronia I don't know the Linux version, but perhaps Cryptomator is worth trying?

@stairjoke I read somewhere that MacOS has supported Emacs shortcuts in all (?) text fields since OSX 10.0. But I've never tested it, as I've never used Emacs. :)

(Unfortunately I can't remember the other TWMs I tried, most of them were ruled out because of the restrictions. Yabai goes much deeper into the system. For example, at least back then you still had to deactivate SIP). (2/2)

@fernsehmuell Yabai can do the most of all, but is a bit more complex to set up - if you don't do it via nix-darwin. I had tried it from time to time and actually like it, but: I had to define too many exceptions, so that it became useless for me. I get on better with ‘self-managed’ windows. But I would clearly favour Yabai if it were different. :) (1/2)
