@brambo Awesome, indeed a bunch arrived on all attempted addresses. That's great, looks like everything stuck was released. I'm in! Thanks!
Software developer with too many hobbies and weird interests. Like everyone else, evidently. In an ideal world I'd make a living writing pulp fiction and making obscure games for obsolete hardware with no audience.

@brambo Thanks! Yes sir, I can always be counted on to find the broken things. ...Already broken things. Broken when I got here. I swear.
It's still complaining I need to verify my email, with no access - but reports "fully operational". Mastodon seems to be confused. Definitely nothing urgent (I hope), let me know if I can help try anything. I hope you liked my silly "about" blurb.
@vga256 There, I went and tried the door, but I think the cafe might be closed for the night. Now I'm intrigued...
That or email verification is buggered. Did they patch it for y2k?
@vga256 🤘🔥🤘
@vga256 Curse my memory! Indeed, 50 is absurd, why would I need as much as 1/5th of my Aptiva's hard drive? 😆
If this is a real thing, and I hope it is, it's what this disenfranchised web developer needs.
Ok, goals for this year. Be less of a lurker. Part of that will be trying out some new instances, and de-identifying my username a hair from other caustic platforms that may some day federate.
This comes in the process of working my way out of an unwell place. That I'm typing this is rather a good sign! So... dialup.cafe or eldritch.social? The former comes with a cool crisp 50mb of web space, I've seen advertised...
(Techhub is fine and good, no complaints)
@vga256 As a once returning student now successfully far, far from a forgotten past in facilities management, thank you for doing that.
The suitcase is usable now.
It contains:
- switched AC outlet with fuse and power meter
- DC output 50V 5A and various test leads and adapters
- Electronic load 30V 3A
- USB (A & C) outlet with power meter
- multimeter (true rms + capacitor tester)
- soldering iron, solder, flux, solder wick, solder sucker, tweezers, scalpel, fiberglass erazor, heatshrink tubing, lighter, flush-cutter
- oscilloscope with probes
- light
- various screwdrivers, opening tools, ...
- mini laptop (x86/Linux)
- magnetic surface to hold magnetic stuff in place
- ifixit magnetic mat / screw organizer
- pen, paper
I'll add:
- IR camera + old smartphone
- component tester
- logic analyzer (Saleae clone)
- bluetooth audio receiver with isolated output (to be used with smartphone/signal generator app)
- shoulder strap
Maybe I'll add an OpenWRT router with exposed eth and USB to be used as wireless USB port or to provide an ethernet/wifi bridge.
There's a "game" called Telehack.
If you're unfamiliar with it, it's a simulation, or possibly a experiment, or a giant fucking rabbit hole, or just a singularity where time works funny.
Anyway, it's "set" in the Old Internet, it's text-based, and you explore remote systems and collect information, and discover hidden things and it's fun.
What's more fun though, is aside from the game-related clues and information is that the whole thing is seeded with real documents and posts from the era.
So, I just "broke into" a BBS in Texas and found a text file a friend of mine wrote in 1992.
Check it out.
@fschaap Oooh, shiny
It's 2024 💫🎇
What is your #newyearsresolution?
If you haven't made up your mind, start going #private in 2024! 💪
Here's a nice list of Big Tech alternatives recommended by our friends at @aboutprivacyNL to help you #DeGoogle!

@ramon_wilhelm @EigenLenk This was tremendous fun, and very good use of EGA!
@flying_saucers That might explain all the tooting.. Lot of fiber.
Today I had someone make a counterargument with me using a copied result from ChatGPT.
Surely this is a new logical fallacy.
@BraveryTEWalker Oh, heck, sounds like the thermostat is going? I had the same thing happen. Depending on the oven that can be a cheap and easy repair.. Be safe!
This is incredibly silly, but I have been looking for this #XMMS skin for years after losing both it and the associated bookmark to time.
It was themed on the now defunct Spacefem.com site, a personal site for an engineer (you know, like we used to do 20 years ago.) I always loved that purple Saturn, and it's so nice to fill that memory gap. It was also a really neat site, and I'm enjoying browsing it again via the Wayback machine.
Skin works great in Audacious, too! 🙂

@hollerpots of course :) Fully open source now! Axway bought it and stopped developing it last year. But they were so kind to hand over all repos: https://github.com/tidev
And after that we already have two major releases and a lot of bugfixes.
@miga Heck yes it is. I may actually start making mobile apps again... 👍
