Oh, forgot to mention here. We now have both Aesthedes computers working! Which means, we have 40% of the world's remaining Aesthedes computers and 100% of all remaining working Aesthedes computers. And yes, that's the Coca Cola logo on the left one.

Bert Smith, a chemist involved in Laserdisc development, shared fascinating stories about the challenges Philips faced. He explained how the high-quality digital sound on Laserdiscs led to the creation of the CD. The process took 10 years to perfect, with many mistakes along the way, including air bubbles in the glue. We received prototype disks, including a gold half-disk and a transparent layer. There were even plans for a Laserdisc jukebox! We archived it all! Did you have a Laserdisc?

The first office of the HomeComputerMuseum was established 7 years ago, just 48 days before the grand opening. A table had its legs sawed off, chairs were bought in the 70s. This 500m² space lacked lighting, heating, and even a toilet door. Some areas had only a metal grid separating inside from outside. We used creativity to tie cables for power, sealed grids with bubble wrap. Instant coffee and a construction lamp were our comforts. This was just the beginning of an unforgettable adventure!

@mrplado no parts were exchanged. We have only replaced some capacitors and some other electronic components, and both are working. We used some (dip) settings from the 'new' one to the old one, which fixed that problem!

@DeltaWye these are actually quite nice, good feedback.

@skryking on our website, but in short: 2x 68020, 2x 68882 cpu, 1.9MB memory, 2x 350MB HD. And every color screen a dedicated powerful videocard

@Petermid altijd welkom. Nu werkt ie 100%!

2025-01-18

@heinragas it's a Dutch computer, something we collect since 2020. Nobody else does, so it also includes a few Dutch non-homecomputers.

Big news! The second Aesthedes is working and the first one is now fully working!

The Aesthedes, the first commercial available CAD-computer, from 1985, is now fully operational.

3 of the 6 screens are broken (but fixable, but the system boots and responds as should be.

We're absolutely thrilled that we managed to get this one up and made the older one now function a full 100% as it was back in the day.

We're almost sure this Philips PC/Home from late 1979 is a prototype of a Philips P2000T (1981). CPU and videochip are equal, even ROM shows similaritiet. More photos at homecomputermuseum.nl/collecti

@Petermid die is nog in herstel. Staat er wel, maar werkt nog niet. Overigens is die wel upgraded naar een Aesthedes 2.
