You can, but you don't have to.
1. You can look at the federated feed (which is how I got to your toot), and 2. you can go to a different instance URL and read their public feed.

@DaVince since Mastodon does use any sort of algorithmic recommendation, favourites do not help with spreading toots across the feed, the way likes do on Twitter and Facebook.
It's simply to let the user know you liked something.

Gamedev.place instance is not holding up. I can't upload files. The feed takes ages to refresh.

@TomF not all servers share the same federation space, by design. I have two accounts open and the federated timeline is completely different.

@TomF anything outside of the server's federation is only accessible if I keep more than one server open.

Is there a Mastodon Windows desktop app that will allow me to keep multiple servers open? This is basically Discord but you need to login to each server separately.
