Still Life with Flowers in a Glass Vase by Jan Davidsz. de Heem (1606-1684). Utrecht native de Heem moved to Antwerp in 1636. There, under the influence of the Flemish masters, he specialized in painting ostentatious still lifes and festoons. Although the attention to detail is reminiscent of his Utrecht teacher Balthasar van der Ast, the verve and richness of color are more Flemish.
