@caseyliss I still use Google Apps with a custom domain as my primary Google account and it’s a perpetual nightmare. Just yesterday was denied from logging into my Volvo with it (bought the Volvo BTW, thank you!)

Looks aside, iOS 26 is almost unusably laggy/jittery and buggy. I’m using an iPhone 15 Pro but still.

(It also looks awful, to be clear)

Something truly is rotten in the state of Cupertino. If software quality continues trending this way, and there’s no reason to think it won’t, it’ll be hard not to root for OpenAI to mercifully give us something better.

@Nizdar @caseyliss Big fan for the most part! A bunch of small nits and I did have a battery issue that they appear to have fixed. I’m halfway through a two-year lease.

Honestly just like the R3 aesthetics a lot more. I think there’s a good chance I stick with the I5 even after my lease is up, if for no reason other than the R3 probably not being out yet.

But also, CarPlay.

@caseyliss Dude I want an R3 so badly (have an Ioniq5 currently). Would be an insta-buy if it had CarPlay. So frustrating.

@brentsimmons OK, potentially dumb question—you mention that you’d incur server/database hosting costs if NetNewsWire was a web app instead of a native app, but why exactly?

I.e if the current (native) version of NNW runs entirely client-side, couldn’t a web client as well?

Still haven’t upgraded to iOS 26.

Should I?

@delta Incredible updates, thanks so much for sharing.

Is Apple TV (via iCloud sync, IIRC) still on the mediumish-term roadmap?

@paul Despite all of this, I *still* feel like I'm going to buy a pair of AirPods Max (*if* they ever release a new model) solely because I'm willing to sacrifice $ and other things for seamless switching between devices. If I'm honest with myself, that's what I'm optimizing for nowadays.

@gruber Approx. how many emails and mentions did you get informing you that dark mode icons are not new in iOS 26?

@json Hi, yes remote in CA works too. Trying to get the job listing updated to indicate as much.

👋 I'm hiring a senior iOS engineer to work on Link at Stripe. This is a very new, very small team with an outsized opportunity to impact the Internet economy: stripe.com/jobs/listing/ios-en

Happy to answer questions if interested!

It took Amazon twelve years from when they bought Goodreads to add the ability to easily buy the books that you want to read. Truly incredible.

@davidhmccoy @fabienmarry That’s bad culture/management, nothing to do with AI

To me, the main thing Apple needed to fix this WWDC was their relationship with developers, and this keynote suggests they think otherwise.

Hell of a line by @chockenberry: “It feels like developers are now part of the supply chain and being optimized accordingly.”
