@kezzbracey Ya I'm guessing choice has to do with previous knowledge with BGE.
Maybe they even have their own branch.
Epic invested some 1 mill+ into Blender recently and it would be really nice to see some of the new tech be used for game dev.
Graphics programming gives me great joy :D
I want to love others and die without having been a burden on the world :D

ooo, someone's making an indie-game in BGE which technically isn't even supported anymore.
Took the default skin "Ramirez" from Fortnite and plugged her into the Libgdx game engine with Cel Shading.
@eons Haha my gamedev doesn't look like this
Yeah this doesn't seem so interesting
@johannesg Yeah, Blue, off-brand. But feel pretty good.
@johannesg Yeah it's this http://a.co/d/dDwYwH9
$22 on Amazon. Maybe I should call it a QWERT keyboard.
Pretty neat.
I bought a left handed mech keyboard for gaming but I had been thinking a lot about @CasualEffects NanoJam math notation and although I'm unfamiliar with many esoteric langs, I think it would be fun to game jam with a limited subset of characters combined with 12 key mouse.
@OlivierSchyns Yeah I have a obscure dual boot setup where I have two 2.5" ssd's I swap back and forth.
Cool thing about Doom 3 engine is that you can use the assets from the Demo as well as an HD texture pack you can find online.
Doom 3 also has an open source VR implementation.
I think with some shader tweaks someone could bring https://github.com/RobertBeckebans/RBDOOM-3-BFG up to par with ID Tech 5.
They actually implemented PBR in it but it was alpha irrc
@coolpowers Why would you try to disable Blender crash feature!
@OlivierSchyns @akien Ya using Unity on Linux kind of defeats the purpose. It is nice that they actually pay someone to maintain it.
Unreal works just fine. Easier to compile from the ~5gb github source zip. Takes about 45 mins on a Ryzen 5 1600.
Godot or Libgdx/Lwjgl on Linux is much better imo.
I want to try create a small engine in Kotlin as well as an online version of Libgdx.
worth mentioning is Blender UPBGE or even Doom 3 source for linux. (Edit levels with DarkRadiant)
DarkMod also
@DKesserich IIRC SteamOs is or was originally mostly Debian Sid with a few proprietary tweaks
Debian Sid (When not broken) has actually been pretty great for gaming -> I'd say maybe more so than Ubuntu.
Although those with an Arch background seem to prefer Antergos which has maybe more stability.
@shanecelis This is not the Java post I anticipated :(
hehe
@lyon craZy when something works well enough to not warrant investigation
@luke_nukem good good. Feline hive mind going as planned
@UnsignedFoo Yeah, it is a well made game but it currently still has lots of bugs.
It's been crashing on AMD cards and they haven't addressed the issue and nothing is on Trello.
@luke_nukem Did you do any development for that decade?
