They have a few people comment on how LLMs can result in this problem, but still not nearly as dramatic as calling out some bullshit in the headline.

Yeah this is the reason there’s so much violence in the drug trade. If someone robs a drug dealer, they can’t go to the police. If someone encroaches on a gang’s territory, they can’t sue. If a cartel budges out a rival cartel through shady business practices, there’s no legal recourse. So the result of all the situations is extreme violence.
That’s the end road here if the justice system continues to be corrupted. There will eventually become a point where people see the rich getting richer off the suffering of others, and with no legal recourse, will resort to violence.

That’s what’s mind blowing to me about this type of stuff. It’s not like this is a middle school English assignment where you might get lucky and your hung over teacher might not check your references. They’re writing public policy for the entire United States! Of course someone is going to dive into your citations!

That’s exactly what I was thinking. A human doesn’t accidentally cite multiple made up studies. So these fuckers are writing government policy by saying “Hey ChatCPT, write a scientific paper with citations about how vaccines are bad.”
Exactly. I can’t remember where I heard this - it might have been a podcast like RadioLab or something else - but it was talking about how happily married, intelligent couples talk to each other .
It turns out, it’s not usually super deep, intelligent conversations. The vast majority of conversations are just meaningless bullshit. Most of the time, couples aren’t even really talking to each other, but they’re just kind of thinking aloud. Stupid stuff like, “I swear I saw a dozen blue Volkswagens today.”
It turns out that people who are comfortable with each other don’t need to have deep conversations all the time. They can just relax, unwind, and be themselves.

There’s a story line about how her sister/guardian has to do 3 things by the end of the week - including getting health insurance - or she’ll lose custody. Lilo almost drowns before her guardian gets health insurance and gets taken to the hospital. The social worker says that the state will cover the bill, if the sister gives up custody.
In the future, you should probably watch the movie before commenting - especially when you make an intentionally inflammatory comment about someone “flying into a fit of rage” at the mere mention of a hospital.
