I'm an experimental psychologist who eventually found a path to #SelfLove and a perspective of #Gratitude. It was harder than it had to be.

Working on finding my voice as a self-appointed philosopher of #therapy.

Hoping to build a small community, help others to find their own paths, and maybe share in a little bit of wisdom along the way.

@Doohickie
I totally get that. However.

I was really excited about something that maybe could help single people find each other better, and get us out from under the horrible environment of online dating apps.

I asked my network for a little help for the first time, and got back information on your personal policy of not helping specifically when people ask for it.

So I'm off to find a "network" that will actually help me pursue my dreams and accomplish things I care about.

Toodle-oo!

I appreciate the favorites!

But candidly, only boosts spread the idea.

Boosts are what I'm asking for.

@stevemc
Well, this isn't my idea, and I'm not trying to solve all the world's problems at once.

I do imagine though that if you're (for example) a straight guy, and you see another guy wearing the ring, it's be really easy to walk up to that person and strike up a conversation about how it's been working for them.

The only timeline in which this works is if everyone knows about it. They don't have to buy anything. Please share with others if it resonates with you.

Online dating apps are terrible, and meeting people in the wild is hard.

I just ran across a new social experiment, Pear Ring. The idea is, singles wear this aqua-colored silicone ring to signal they're open to meeting and talking with people.

Who knows if it'll get traction, but it'd be great if there were some alternative to online dating platforms.

I'm not affiliated with the organization doing this. But I feel like there's a timeline where this helps people.

The Texas Observer is about to shut down. It's been a bastion of fair news and challenging viewpoints in a (now) deeply red state for nearly 70 years.

Our donations to their GoFundMe in the next half-hour have a chance to save it. gofundme.com/f/laid-off-texas-

I would definitely not have been into Khruangbin, but I'm totally still into Faster Pussycat :)

I got burned badly with a non-compete too. I wish the article mentioned how the FTC could enforce this, given that non-compete agreements are allowed by state law.

I'm seeing Meyer lemons in grocery stores! Time to get those lemons preserved for some Moroccan food in a couple months, or anything you want to give a salty, acidic, citrusy, umami kick to. #cooking

A freshly packed jar of Meyer lemons, preserving in lemon juice, salt, bay leaves, and peppercorns.

@bbcworld
Wish this story had more detail... it's unclear which workers this might apply to, and how the FTC might enforce it given that non-compete agreements are enforced at the U.S. state level.

The very witty 2023 banned words list from Lake Superior State University! Apparently a fine tradition since 1976!

Time for a little light dusting of the vocabulary going into the new year :)

Oddly resembles a political map.

That one's interesting! I don't remember that one, but I do remember, "Seek freedom, and find yourself captive to your desires. Seek discipline, and find yourself free."

They're not necessarily in conflict, but interesting in contrast in any case.

There are several variant rulesets for Catan floating out there on the Interwebs that let you play two players.

Haven't played them myself, but here's one: catan.fandom.com/wiki/2-player

On the lighter side there's Sushi Go, Love Letter, Point Salad, Quixx.

DC Deck Building Game, Harry Potter: Battle for Hogwarts, and Lord of the Rings: The Card Game are all fun cooperative deck-builders.

Azul and Wingspan are both beautifully themed, very tactile games, though Wingspan is challenging for some to get the first game going.

Doubles Solitaire can be pretty fun too, especially with a nice set of Kem cards :)

Yeah just throw a whole bunch of caldo de pollo into your stove top stuffing and it's way better #JoinIn

That's a fun article!

Dennett has been my muse for 20 years. Increasingly though, I'm convinced that words or thought have little to do with consciousness. I think we're mis-defining it.
