@rustyshelf @bjango This was a great talk and a nice treat to start my week this morning. Thanks and great work!

@snazzyq Brilliant!
Also, lukewarm take: I hate that they’ve buried so many core OS app settings (Phone, Mail, Safari, etc) with all the rest. I get why they did it, under antitrust pressure etc, but it is maddening.
@layered I paid for a year but couldn’t manage to overcome the inertia and switch from Fusion. I really like the app, but habits are hard to break.
I still do want to leave Fusion for something else, but it might eventually be OnShape instead of Shapr3D.
@timo @geerlingguy Cool idea, thanks. Yes, backplane power distribution (and maybe some analog/digital I/O lines) would be neat.
I use NI’s PXIe system at work — another philosophical match but too pricey for a hobby project.
@geerlingguy Your 10” rack page on GitHub is great. Does anyone have a similar set of links to accessories/modules for the RackMate TT (~7” ish) size? Or is this such a niche that you’re basically on your own?
I suspect the latter, but it’s okay — my use case is super unconventional anyway. It’ll be my frame for a modular system of electronics for a full-size astromech droid. Batteries, power conversion, RC, servo controls, motor ESCs, a few ESP32s, a Teensy, etc. Probably all custom 3D prints.
@siracusa The soundbar? No - it’s mounted to the face of the fireplace.
@siracusa No but I can no longer claim to be an elitist — my wife took control of our main living space after 10+ years and has insisted that we move the TV above the fireplace. I hate the new arrangement in general, and this in particular.
At least I managed to sneak in a camouflaged Arc Ultra and a couple Era 100s.
@layered Hadn’t heard of Publii — may look into it. Very cool, especially with the Shapr3d embed.
I may try to do something similar for my projects, building out my site from the basic landing page that it is now.
@siracusa I would love to see how this resolves physically versus DeltaE < 3 on several of Apple’s current panels.
@snazzyq Ah, I see. FYI, your (pasted?) intro text doesn’t invert properly in dark mode. Maybe try again with plain text?
I’ve spent the last… well the last long while creating an homage to the 1984 Macintosh! It’s 3D printed, has a laser-cut cork foot, Easter eggs like the hidden signatures from the original and more!
It’s an amazing little ~$100 machine!

@snazzyq For what it's worth, my retro Mac print as shown was with Bambu PLA Wood in White Oak -- I see you used the Matte Desert Tan.
Just today I took delivery of Polar Filament's brand-new "Retro Platinum" PLA specifically formulated to match the color of retro Macs. I'm excited to give it a try.
@snazzyq Any interest in exchanging MakerWorld model links between a couple of my related designs?
1) The Retro Mac TRMNL stand (already links to your @trmnl video):

(I plan to remix this design into a Pi and M4 Mac Mini enclosure using a similar IPS display)
2) Fully-functional 55% scale eMac enclosure for M4 Mac mini:

@snazzyq Just saw you posted your build video. I can’t wait to watch it later tonight.
I wish I had the time, skills, and charisma to produce videos about my Mac & STEM project designs like you (and Scott Yu-Jan). Alas… I just post to Printables/MakerWorld. ;-)
@snazzyq You reminded me that I hadn't yet uploaded this to MakerWorld -- here it is:
I embedded your TRMNL video.

I used their PLA Wood in "White Oak". It's good, but I also ordered this to try next:

Nerds: I own my lastname.org domain, but the .com has been squatted for years with silly prices.
Over the past week or two I’ve been receiving shady-seeming emails from multiple individuals offering to sell it to me for less and less (down to $100).
How do I ID the actual owner and be safe in buying? And I assume once I own it, further renewals are priced reasonably?
