Virkkunen is becoming a wishy-washy Commissioner in a post where the EU needs someone with some bite

@niels @newbyte Hard to say. We know DSB together with Vy wants to run Kbh-Oslo, but we don't know how many Talgo sets will be available for that, and from when. So nice idea, and not bullshit, but hard to assess what precisely the outcome will be here.

@cweickhmann Agh, nervig dass nur die DB Linie hier kopiert und einfügt. @ghonsel wäre eine etwas ausführliche Analyse möglich?

2025-05-27

@webhat Quicker to just copy-paste than do any work!

2025-05-27

@krist Yes, it comes back to that all too often indeed. All these simple-ish things SNCF makes an absolute mess of them.

2025-05-27

@Akshay No they didn't consult me. But the core argument they make is OK!

Moldova 🇲🇩, the ideas
Let's build a standard gauge railway Iași 🇷🇴 - Ungheni 🇲🇩 - Chișinău 🇲🇩 – Odessa 🇺🇦
lok-report.de/news/europa/item

Moldova 🇲🇩, the reality now
Only 12 trains a day in the *entire country*, making it only a fraction better than Albania merstren.md

@moof Ha. Classic. It *always* hangs around there! 🙂 And Spiegel has a nice HQ.

2025-05-27

@cycling_on_rails @bovine3dom That's too narrow. 3-6-3 is the model. Depart 2100-2359, run 6 hours, set down 0600-0900. That's what ÖBB aims for.

2025-05-27

@bovine3dom @cycling_on_rails That's bollocks. And I know for sure that's bollocks, from some counter cases (that I cannot post publicly). This sounds like a line SNCF gave them as an excuse, and they did not check its accuracy.

2025-05-27

@bovine3dom Ventimiglia is not a problem. It is 1.5kV dc there, meaning any SNCF dual voltage locomotive can use it, and any Trenitalia 3kV one at half power. The issues in Ventimiglia are not technical. They are it's in Italy, and it's political. @cycling_on_rails

2025-05-27

@LachAnonym @MikaKpk Those cases are getting fewer, thankfully. I worked a lot on fixing the Offenburg-Strasbourg bug with someone I know at DB, and that one is now fixed.

2025-05-27

@deadliftbear By 2028 there might be a daytime train between the two, run by Trenitalia. I know no plans for a night train though.

2025-05-27

@Colman Not really, no. And the Novi Sad scandal set back whatever scant progress there was.

2025-05-27

@maartje Thanks, but I don't care. Whether it's in Navigator or not is the important one.

2025-05-27

@MikaKpk You're going to get a legal proposal on this before there is any legal case brought.

As to how it is supposed to work: see all of CER's Ticketing Road Map documents.

2025-05-27

@wuppi @sebwilken Ja, aber es wird einiges dauern bis die EU alles abgestimmt hat. Lass uns den Vorschlag (erwartet Ende 2025) zuerst sehen!

2025-05-27

@25kV Ah! I have only been the other side there. Might you give me permission to use that pic on the #CrossBorderRail website? Here's a nice drone pic of the bridge I took!
