#CapCut is an awesome video edition tool. And it's free....or is it? 💶 You pay with your content and data, of course.
Uploaded content is treated as non-confidential, and CapCut may use, modify, or distribute it for service purposes. Users retain ownership but grant a royalty-free license for CapCut’s usage, including sublicensing.
Also worth noting is that good ol' #JPEG2000 has n average optimization rate of 92%!!! Population is low, though... jp2 is only served to a few IOS devices.
You might have read the 2024 edition of the #WebAlmanac and wondered how #jpeg_xl is doing....
I had a quick look into the ImageEngine data to see.
‣ AVIF and JPEGXL is about equally efficient when it comes to byte reduction.
‣ JPEG XL has better visual quality at the same byte saving ratio than AVIF
‣ WEBP is great for smaller images, thanks to lower overhead than esp. AVIF due to the HEIC container.
‣ Modern formats at the origin is almost not visible. <1%.
I mean, Google et.al. have 0 interest in sending users to your website. They can already provide the answer on the SERP. Plus, SERP shows their ads. The best chance to leverage search results is to make sure to be referenced in the answer from their respective LLMs.

I wish there was a “robot.txt for AI bots”, or the we could stick something into the exif metadata to protect content. A growing amount of image requests originate from bots scraping images to train AI.
One of the funkiest duets ever, a real party anthem , remember dancing on it as a student for the full 10 minutes. Great performance also which makes you forget the bad video quality.
