I think I'm getting the concept of mastodon slowly. But how does the federation part work technically?. What content from which instances can I see / how do I find out what I see and what I don't. How does the server instance know about the other instances? I have looked for explanations online but did only find ones about the general concept without going in depth about the coordination of all instances. Does anyone have a good source?
