@w7voa
I saw this advice today:
Hmmm....
This ain't fully me, but it gives clues:
Retired #Michigan government bureaucrat, #VietnamVet, #Bluegrass and #MinorLeagueBaseball fan, amateur #Photographer. Also: #Macalester grad, #SABR member, and onetime #DemocraticParty staffer.
Prone to enthusiasms....
Look at their headlines: #BrokenTimes, #BrokenPost, #MurdochJournal (above), FT all surprised by the inflation. Guardian, again, gets it right, reminding readers of Trump's #BrokenPromise to bring down prices.
I bet my girlfriend that this picture of our cats could get 10 billion boosts on Mastodon.
She said she doesn't believe me. She said there's only 15 million accounts on Mastodon. She said there aren't even 10 billion people on Earth. She said it concerns her that I struggle to comprehend large numbers.
Let's prove her wrong everyone. Boost away and show her just how awesome the Mastodon community is.
Homelessness should be illegal, but for the state, not the Homeless. If your State is run so poorly that you have a significant number of Homeless, then you are committing a crime against the people that live there. You've let rent get higher than wages, you aren't adequately funding mental and physical Healthcare, you're under providing Unemployment benefits and Disability, you're not regulating unnecessary layoffs.
Are there going to be a few people who still choose Homelessness, maybe, but these are problems with solutions 99% of the time.
The ease with which Harris manipulated Trump during the debate invokes the specter of how easily our adversaries can do the same to him.
We should name our heat waves after oil companies, in alphabetical order like hurricanes or tornadoes. So you’d say the western US is currently suffering from heat wave: Shell Oil this week.
@chuqvr An old favorite!
happy trump mugshot day to all who celebrate
If someone is caught stealing a loaf of bread to feed their children, should not the society be punished more than the person for letting such a situation arise? People need food to survive, and a society that cannot feed it's members is not a society. The society needs to be rehabilitated more than the person. Apply this kind of logic to everything.
The Lily's Hiding
A throwback to autumn a couple of years back to one of my favourite images in this particular woodland.
I had walked past this scene possibly a hundred times before I saw it less than 10m from one of the parking areas, thanks to the unfolding epic light show. It requires getting the camera up to about 2.3m above the ground for everything to fall into place.

It's almost as if #Meta declared that they'd federate #Threads as a way to get the "fediverse" crowd not to bitch about Meta/Facebook/Zuck's horrific past abuses of privacy and other data abuses, and the fact that the Threads app has quite possibly the most invasive set of anti-privacy demands of any app in history. Almost like Meta thinks the fediverse gang are all suckers.
I Looked Up and Saw an Oriole!
A House Finch, too, but that's less remarkable; we see finches all the time.
I took--or maybe "found" is a better description--this photo on 7/10/2013, ten years ago today. It's the July image for the calendar I made for friends and family this year.
Had a phone interview for a job today. It's a help desk manager type thing. Remote.
I asked, "do you use keystroke loggers, screen cappers, and other surveillance technology?"
Confused muttering. Finally from someone on the call, "yes."
Me. "are these always on? I see you don't provide PCs. Are you expecting me to put these things on my own PC? Can they be turned off when I am not on duty?"
Them: always on
Me: "wow"
Them: no one else has asked this question.
Me: YIKES
