@danielpunkass Here’s the video, for those who don’t want to go to threads dot net
I didn't anticipate hailing Ben Affleck as an astute critic of AI. There are parallels for software developers. The ability to write an effective function or even a whole subsystem is not comparable to writing an app. Great apps require an epic amount of human editing, just like great films do. https://www.threads.com/@forrestpknight/post/DTnlnzAjuAb
Is Apple aware that they have a Display Zoom setting? 😂 #productExcellence #liquidglass
If you put the Apple icons in reverse it looks like the portfolio of someone getting really really good at icon design
@obrhoff I‘d even say we’ve taken a few steps back. IMO Apple hit the target pretty well back then, but nowadays one really can’t reason what you can and cannot do on any given screen on iPadOS 😔
An Act of Resistance
iOS 6 has to be the last iOS with well-designed UI. The UI is intentional and clear. It doesn't try to be anything more than that. It doesn't blur the lines between UI and user content. The UI is actually there as you need it rather than playing peek-a-boo with you. The visual affordances are very much appreciated. You know what is your stuff and what is a control or tool. And it makes *excellent* use of the very small real-estate available to it. It's refreshing to see.
@dlx I think it got better for me over the past few weeks. I don’t know whether it’s 26.2 or I changed something about my setup.
I do have one physical SIM (O2 network), which I use for data, and one eSIM (Vodafone), which is just for receiving messages / calls. I think the latter was not set up correctly for a while (as in: it could not connect), so maybe that triggered a bug? I also have Airalo installed, but none of their eSIMs…

Chat, are we cooked?
It’s been 0 minutes since I last looked for an app’s search field at the top of the screen before realizing it had been moved down.

I, for one, would appreciate a complete u-turn in terms of UI at Apple.
How a bout: iOS/macOS/tvOS/iPadOS/watchOS 27: solid rock? any takers?
so are we doing the thing when Tim Cook tweeted a new product every day for a week, but this time it's executives leaving
The Correct Incantation
my wife just reminded me of a very funny story. I ordered a bench PSU from one of the big electronics suppliers and when the box arrived only the power cable was in there, no bench PSU. so I called them up, the warehouse guy was able to confirm the shipping weight was way off, and we ended up chatting about funny shipping errors. one of their newbies had once gone to a shelf, it was empty, so assumed the shelf itself was the item and shipped it out. but that wasn't the funniest one.
