@ben I've had a Fibaro HC2 for many years, but it's rather clunky, and I thought it was time to go more streamlined. Saw a review of Homey, tried the cloud-only service for a few days and liked it, so ordered the bridge. It handles lots of brands pretty seamlessly.

@ben Have to say I like the Homey a lot. I may well upgrade to the Homey Pro at some point this year when Matter is rolled out. It's pretty much The One Hub To Rule Them All.

@Tony_Meredith Have to say, I think one great use case for all this stuff will be for ageing folk like us to help stay independent. Things like not having to race to the door when the bell rings, nor stumble around a house turning off lights at night can be a godsend for vulnerable people or those with mobility problems.

Extremely pleased to report that I have completed an update and tidying-up of all my smarthome stuff: I've decomissioned the Fibaro HC2 controller, which has been brilliant for a decade, but is clunky and esoteric, and migrated everything to a Homey bridge, which is much slicker. All my lights are now Hue, which I run through the Homey bridge, plus a few other bits and pieces - the aircon, the Nest devices, some smartplugs and wall switches.
