@mathowie Let the extraction<>extortion games begin. Oh, wait, they are well in play.

@mathowie I get that it's icky, but private equityesque ownership of successful digital products is no joke. It's a slash-and-burn strategy and is deadly.

Last week was International Nature Journaling Week and it was so fun. The results are weird, even for me. Which makes it especially fun. Thanks to the organizing team, and the inspiring beings I spent time with: avocado pit, zinnia, potato, spider plant, wind poppy pod, eucalyptus leaf, soil. I have much to learn about making things in a pie.

Well, Slime Mold has an algorithm. Sigh...is there no end to the extraction? Is there joint ownership for the IP? Will part of all revenues be allocated to slime mold habitat protection? Why do we take nature's magic and make it into a human-serving acronym? nature.com/articles/s41598-024

Attention word lovers! Join me for this upcoming event:
* Lyricism in Line: A Nature Journal Lab for writers - Hosted by Writing the Wild.

Friday, November 3
10am-11:30am PDT, on Zoom

In this lab, we'll use simple drawing prompts and observational linework to explore natural forms and to evoke vivid vocabulary in our writing. By (literally) drawing out our impressions of natural phenomena, we'll connect with the energy and lyricism of natural subjects.
