Zuckerberg standing up and apologizing to families in the recent Senate Judiciary hearing reminded me of an episode of "The Wire" where the detectives had D'Angelo Barksdale write an apology to the family of a murder victim even though he was charged. The outrage by his lawyer--"what are you apologizing for"--is something I am sure Zuckerberg's lawyers yelled at him over dinner. If Meta isn't at fault, then why apologize?

I have heard lots of MAGAs complaining about a Democratic strategy to vote Haley in NH to boost her numbers come Tuesday, including by Trump himself, who complained about the dishonesty.

Didn't seem to matter in 2020 when they cheered on Hugh Hewitt, who encouraged conservatives to vote for Bernie Sanders in the primaries to deny Biden the nomination.

Just leaving this here:

In my extended family, the three things we don't discuss at reunions are: politics, religion, and how to correctly spell our last names.

Remember when the GOP acted wounded when the Democrats moved New Hampshire out from its starting role? When GOP candidates argued how disrespectful it was of NH voters that they don't get the special treatment?

Well, how are those NH Republicans feeling now? No debates? Light schedule? One candidate skipping the state entirely? The frontrunner who spends his time elsewhere?

Always said you won't pay a price bumping IA and NH out of first states to hold an election.

I once had a woman tell me she voted for Trump because "he has a hot wife." Tonight a guy told me he supports DeSantis because of his wife. I asked what did she do to warrant his support. "Google her" he said. "She is hot."

We are so F'd as a country.

Trump: "This never happened, I do not know this woman."

Also Trump: "The sex was consensual."

Imagine Trumpers actively backing a primary challenger to Bob Goode, a loopy American First Trump lover if there ever was one. Head of the Freedom Caucus all because he dared back a Trump challenger for President? If these MAGA heads tell you that they care about conservative principles, laugh in their faces because at the end of the day, it is all about fealty to the Dear Leader.

I am not sure which tired metaphor to apply to Nikki Haley as she tries not to offend Trump mouth breathers or independents:

She is trying to eat her cake and have it to?

Or a paraphrase from The Karate Kid: "Walk left side, safe. Walk right side, safe. Walk in middle, squish."

Either way, to both the DeSantis and Haley campaigns, it seems their donors have grounds to sue for financial mismanagement as both have raised a lot of money but won't do what it takes to win.

Haley said she was not going to criticize Trump.

Here is what Trump's people told Politico this afternoon about New Hampshire:

"It’ll be a level of vitriol … that she hasn’t yet seen."

When I hear Nikki Haley proclaim that her 3d place finish makes her the winner, all I can hear is any quote issued by Ralph Wiggams.

Jeff Goldblum's "Jurassic Park" character needs to lecture the AP. Just because you had the metrics showing Trump would win, it doesn't mean you had to announce his victory minutes after the Caucus began. What in the world is lost by waiting an hour? We all knew Trump would win. But how many wobbly voters who showed up at the caucus site threw in for Trump just because of the Bandwagon effect? Not being a part of the losing crowd?

How strong is the dissonance among Trump voters? A Trump supporter in Iowa on the BBC said that he had kept his promises in 2016, then turned right around and said he didn't keep his promises in things like the border wall.

And on that border wall? He failed because the Congress wouldn't let him build it. A Congress controlled by the GOP for two years.

And according to her, Iowa is a border state.

And the projected spending for the 2024 election cycle is anticipated to be $16 billion! 3 times more than the last cycle. And campaigns will tell you that is a drop in the bucket compared to commercial advertising, so that is supposed to make us feel better?

Just another metric on the irrelevancy of Iowa's stupid caucus system? For years they told us that the ground game is what won--TV advertising held no important sway over how people vote.

This cycle, according to Ad Impact, the GOP candidates have spent a whopping $124 million on ads--TV and digital. That is nearly half of what has been spent total on the GOP primary writ large.

This editorial makes the key point supporting kicking Iowa to the dustpan of history. For all of its talk about only supporting those candidates who get to know Iowa voters intimately, Donald Trump has spent very little time here, has no backing among the Iowa power elite, and is crushing the field.

It is time to put this stupid caucus system in the ground.

LOLing at a Boston Globe story on Iowa Democrats complaining that they feel left out this cycle. I mean, after that face plant of a spectacle they put on in 2020, they don't have a lot of ground to cry on. Good riddance. The GOP will have to endure that silliness for eternity since they went all in on white evangelicals.
