Old apartments already have very few GPOs (so they are using lots of powerboards and extension cords already) and existing wiring weirdness, plus most people don't understand electricity in the most basic terms

If you connected one at my flat it would potentially involve a power board, extension cord... so yeah it'd have to preclude that situation
@s0 @neoluddite @futzle @jpm @ThermiteBeGiants perhaps the issue is potentially too-small wire sizing at the GPO where it's plugged in (and between there and the circuit breaker), as well as old wiring and nibbling rats etc.
