Major shoutout to my good friend @kainoa for his amazing tribute and video for our #Firefish (you know, the one we used to call #Calckey) squad!
Since last November, I've been right in the thick of things with @kainoa, getting my hands dirty in all things Firefish - you name it, server admin, testing, marketing, and all that jazz. And let me tell ya, it's been a rollercoaster ride of pure awesomeness!
I've had the best seat in the house watching Firefish morph from our little pet project into this super cool, community-driven software in the Fediverse realm. Like, we literally aimed for the stars and are heading that way!
And the magic of it all? Firefish isn't just about cool tech, it's all about YOU, our rock star community! No way this dream would have come true without your epic involvement.
Okay, let's hit the pause button for a second. Can we just take a moment to give a big round of applause for @kainoa? This dude just dropped this video trailer for our newly decked out Firefish. He's been sweating over this for more than a week, and it's the perfect snapshot of what gets him pumped about Firefish.

Wow, what a wild ride, huh? From those first brainstorming sessions that sparked Calckey, to the epic journey that brings us here today, rebranding as Firefish - I've gotta say, I'm seriously blown away.
One year ago, Calckey was just my side project, after being a Misskey contributor for a while. But when y'all jumped on board, you made it so much more. You transformed it from my dream to our reality.
Firefish isn't just a cool name. It's everything we've been working towards. It's late nights, strong coffee, wild ideas, laughs, and even the occasional tears. It's our little space on the web where we're constantly pushing for the next big thing, and always looking out for one another.
So here we are, at the start of something new. Firefish is more than just a rebrand - it's a celebration. A celebration of you, me, and us. It's a tribute to the amazing community we've built together. Firefish is all of YOU.
We put together video that I feel really gets to the heart of Firefish. We wanted to show you guys what this whole journey has meant to us, and how excited we are to be taking this next step together.
Before I go, I just want to say a big, massive, thank you. Thank you to all the patrons who supported this. Thank you to @blackspike@mastodon.cloud for the absolutely stunning logo. Thank you @angelolz for the beautiful trailer. Thank you to our development team who's made some amazing strides. And thank you all for believing in this wild idea, thank you for your support, and thank you for being part of the coolest community on the web. You guys are the real backbone of all this.
Here's to the next chapter of our journey as Firefish. Exciting times ahead, and I can't wait to see where we go from here!

To everyone excited: YES, IT'S HAPPENING! We're making sure everything goes nice and smooth. The Codeberg's issue tracker has been put on freeze, migration to the new code forge is complete.

They want to dominate. Threads.net will probably become the largest server on ActivityPub. But as soon as other communities starts to block and mute, they might want to "spread out".
They don't need one big server to dominate ActivityPub, as long as they have the majority of users spread out on many servers under their control.
Meta should get rid of all bots before they start federating with others on ActivityPub.

I believe you can choose to block/mute threads.net if you like, even if your server has chosen to federate with them. Not sure if Meta wants to add several instances to start with. Long term, I think they might.
Meta's Threads app plans to join the fediverse, adopting the ActivityPub specification to connect its 100 million users to decentralized social media services. However, Meta faces technical challenges in implementing ActivityPub and must also address social resistance from parts of the fediverse community.
