@triptych Thsnk you! I’m trying not to. It impacted others who I deeply respect. Realizing I have some of our societal ills embedded in my perceptions, I’m disappointed in myself. I did realize it, so I need to renter.
I did something stupid and am so ashamed. I can’t seem to forgive myself. I did apologize and asked for grace, but I can’t let go that I did the ignorant thing. Realizing I have this line of thinking breaks my heart. I hope I can become more aware and never make this mistake again. 😔

We have to set minimum wage regulations because some employers will take advantage of workers.
Why don’t we regulate minimum/maximum profits?
Why do we calculate the impacts of living wage proposals only by the impact on workers who will either see increased/decreased wages, be laid off, rehired, etc.?
Why aren’t profit margins part of the economic equation?
@ashleemboyer Thank you for posting about this and taking the time to investigate. As I understand this, a developer would have to intentionally add aria-hidden=“true” and make the tabindex negative. This seems like a deliberate action to block access for assistive technology users. Is there another way to comprehend this?
In addition to the Accessibility Statement being removed from the White House website (h/t @LFLegal), there are some ridiculous WCAG compliance errors on the home page now.

This morning I had a Zoom call with someone who speaks Mandarin Chinese natively and their English is heavily accented. The automatic craptions understood them better than they do people from Ohio or Arkansas. It’s very telling.

Wikipedia is one of the few places that has endured under these changes. Wikipedia is still OK. And OK is a lot better than what you'll find in other places.
But it's just an encyclopedia. A very big one, but they stuck to their mission. Start adding how-to guides, relationship advice, and what to do if your cat is sick... well it's not the right place.
There is still so much excellent content on the web, freely given by people who just want to be acknowledged... and we are letting it rot.
I wish designers and developers would let go of needing to appear “hip” / cool, etc. They end up sacrificing real craft and quality by following the herd. It’s a waste and negatively impacts UX and sustainability.
When people betray the law, contractual requirements, and official policies what loyalty do we owe them? None.
It is appropriate to betray the loyalty of colleagues who disrespect the law, regulations, policies, etc., especially when their actions put others or the organization at risk. The offenders lost their right to expect loyalty.
