@andyn most people will put a case on it anyway, waste of time. Wait for foldable, avoid a new iPhone this year and save some money.

Do I miss having an iPad?

It’s been almost six months since I traded my M2 iPad Pro into the Apple Store to help fund my new MacBook Pro. I’m at a time where I need one machine that does it all and that’s not the iPad (for me). I needed a machine that did both my personal and creative stuff, had enough storage to hold my entire photo library and had an amazing larger screen that I could watch TV and game with.

@robb gives me an idea about writing up how much I make from wallpapers (it's not a lot currently)

AI has stopped me writing how to guides

I used to write more posts about how to do certain things in iOS, something like "How to set a due date in Apple Reminders" but since I started to use Google Gemini and previously to that chatGPT more as a Google replacement I have come to the realisation that I don't get a lot of joy from writing them anymore.

Wallpaper of the week: colour from above

Following on from last week I’m back sharing a wallpaper I’m using over the week. This one I took whilst away for a few days in Hay-on-wye and spotted this setup in a shop. I thought it would make for a bit of colour for my phone.

WWDC 25 Lock Screen wish list item

This change in iOS 17 annoys me almost every single day. When a wallpaper is resized Apple blurs out the top portion, which I think is to allow the time and widgets to show more clearly. I wish you could turn this off or Apple just removed it.

New sticker day for the MacBook Pro

My MacBook Pro is slowly becoming more personalised. I’ve just added this Akira sticker, one of my favourite Anime.

@andyn @ljpuk delete your social apps, when you have a though you want to share just use your blog. Especially if you have a mobile app.

@imarc @ljpuk thats a good shout, I tend to go to Apple Notes too when I have a project to plan. I need the reminders to pop up or I'll forget though.

Bringing a bit of Animal Crossing to your iPhone

When the Nintendo Today app launched I immediately downloaded it. It was a neat way to see what was coming our way from Nintendo and it had a pretty cool Home Screen and Calendar built in. On using it I immediately wanted it to show my local calendar too, well Nintendo have done it. It’s pretty rudimentary and for UI purposes only (editing an event takes you to the Apple Calendar app) but I love it.

Which Nintendo Switch games work on the Switch 2?

I've been contemplating putting a little money aside to get myself a Switch 2, I could do with something as a distraction and this might fit the bill. Obviously I missed the boat on preorders so I won't be getting one at launch but it's now a bit more on my radar. As someone that is hooked on Animal Crossing I wanted to know if I can play it on the new console, seems I can.

Reminders might be basic but it knows how to handle larger text

I’ve been testing to do apps again (a surprise I know 😊) and I’m left with a single reason on why I’m starting to use Reminders again - it knows how to handle larger fonts. I know I give Apple crap about iOS not being amazing in display zoom for larger text sometimes but their apps, specifically Reminders here does a much better job than the third party apps I tested.

I now need Nintendo to pour some resources into making a TO DO app and make it part of my Nintendo subsciption ☺️

I tried using Apple Intelligence from my Lock Screen

I’ve been messing around with Apple Intelligence as a helper to replace the ChatGPT app, as a heads up it’s not going great. I have been looking for an app to use in the lower right corner so added type to Siri. It’s been a mixed bag. If I have been super specific with an easy question it’s been ok but as soon as you try to have a conversation you’re not in for a fun time.
