Yet another software #hacker from #belgium. My native language is #french. I currently work for #nvidia but my opinions are my own. In the past I worked for #apple and also operated a tech startup.
Interests: family time, #programming computers from my couch, #running, #reading (99% fiction), #anime, music (#classical, #metal, #electronic), #RPG (tactical turned-based, open world).

Created a Bluesky account out of curiosity. So far it has early Twitter vibes. https://bsky.app/profile/lrz.hipbyte.com
@plexus I think it's just the way people use the service. Recently I realised that I used to get all my news from Twitter as well as learning about new interesting projects, and this just does not happen here (I now even resort to browsing the orange site). There is nothing wrong with Mastodon per say but I feel like people use it more as an online diary. In a way, I miss the Twitter atmosphere / vibe (this said, I'm not even sure if it still exists at this point).
On the topic of social media I have been thinking about Mastodon lately and it's not really working for me.
I guess I really wanted it to replace Twitter but I now realise it's a different thing by design. I will keep supporting it but might not use it much anymore.
I can't really go back to Twitter for ethical reasons so I might resurrect some sort of blog/diary instead (which is what I used to do prior to joining Twitter).
The Olympics haven't started yet and there is already so much great content on TikTok, made by athletes and staff. I think TikTok will change the way we live through major world events. Twitter was already innovative at the time but this is a whole new level.
Pretty hard to hack a bluescreened computer, so I guess crowdstrike is doing its job.

@hboon nice, I have to migrate to a new server that applies software updates more often… out of curiosity why did you pick this one?
@oliviersaraja bien joué !!!
@hboon oh I have to do that too - glad to hear it was painless for you?
Just like when Apple got rid of the HKlive app during the Hong Kong protests. Imagine if there was a way to install apps not through the AppStore. That way the AppStore couldn’t be exploited as a censorship tool by governments. But then Apple might not make every possible cent off the iPhone, so probably not worth it. It’s crazy that Apple is probably happier with Russia’s actions towards the AppStore than Europe’s. No public fit. No press release. Just quiet compliance.

Today on slack
@oliviersaraja nice splits, congrats!
@Migueldeicaza it fixed an annoying eye condition I have been going through for years - also you get to know your body better, can't recommend enough
(slight problem: you might become addicted to it and it becomes somehow problematic, I think it is like a U-shaped curve.)
I have to say though that WebAssembly has come a long way from when I first started playing with it in 2017. A few days ago I was debugging a crash in native C++ code inside the Chrome developer window, with proper debug info and stack trace symbolication. A dream came true.
Lately I have been helping with a new project at work, I was tasked to do the WebAssembly bits of it due to past experience and it reminded me of this scene from the Godfather 3.
