@web_goddess fuck those guys.
@pat have fun! ❤️ Very sad I’ll be missing my first Ruby Conf in 10 years. 😭
@nitecoder thank you—I think I will! 🥲
The chance to discover where my true passions lie has just been granted. It’s the first time I have had no job in almost…20 years! 🤭 And 12 months after some too full on for words (on social media) family shit, I am ready for this opportunity to figure out where my life is going.
Imposter syndrome isn't real. Imposter phenomenon is very real.
Imposter phenomenon is the combination of two things:
1) the belief that I know less things than others around me.
2) the belief that if this is found out, that I will experience harm from it.
In short, it's about psychological safety. It's a rational response based on the lived experience of the person feeling it, and their observation of how others are treated, it's not a shortcoming of the person experiencing it.
@greg I appreciate the offer - unfortunately it’s a series of traumatic events that are ongoing and unlikely to be resolved and talking is all I do. I just need to be able to adapt to a new reality and carry on as we were. Not easy to do.
Just don’t know how much longer I can hold it together. My current existence is so close to dissolving.
A company lays off thousands of people, nobody bats an eye.
A company fires one CEO and everyone loses their mind.
Don’t worry about generative AI, it’s only a problem if you want the web to…
@knack exactly!
The concept of the mediated web being explained by Rupert Manfredi makes sense to me. If Im understanding it correctly it’s an AI interface between the web and the client (it has a profile of who you are on the client side) and can get you want you want faster. Like imagine being given a good restaurant and place to stay without needing to interrogate the suitability on a stack of sites because you don’t necessarily trust what google or the business provides.
@philnash that’s the one! 😍
@m3lk you’re looking for Lynx (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynx_(web_browser) ) and it’s very cool that it still works!
@philnash haha lynx 😝 ok
I feel like I’ve just learned something really important about the open web from the opening keynote at web directions. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Links_(web_browser)
@brendan wow that’s a great video!!
@brendan I am reliving all the things from all the years and having a stack of a-ha moments. 🤯
I think *maybe*, just maybe, I might be able to stop thinking that I’m just a failed/bad person.
Turns out…I’m probably autistic, the relief is real. Haha told the kid about this potential development for solidarity and he’s like…”noooooo! 🙄” And *Feines shock*.
