We're going to need rebellions big and tiny if we are to make it through.

Anything you can do to resist is important.

Patagonia Lake, Arizona, December 2024, O'odham territory, northern Yaqui hunting and trading region, once a creek (Sonoita Creek) and since 1968 a human-made reservoir. A large series of mines (copper, gold, silver, lead and other metallic elements) surround this valley, so the park rangers here advise not consuming more than 2 fish from this reservoir, due to possible contamination from mine tailings. This area is now a place to observe over 120 species of desert birds. There is an astronomy observatory on top of Mt. Wright, northwest of the reservoir. About 20 miles north of Mexico's northern border, there is also a pilgrimage and religious site nearby, where the devoted leave items beside a santo, a saint, in thanks or for support in their life struggles.

Verizon and AT&T were fined $46.9M and 57.3M respectively by the FCC in 2020 for selling customer location data to data brokers.

Both companies argue that recent Supreme Court rulings prevent the FCC from unilaterally imposing fines and instead a jury trial is required.

Also the FCC’s two current Republican oppose fines as they disagree that the FCC has jurisdiction over privacy violations.

It’s getting increasingly harder for govt agencies to penalize misbehavior.
