> We'd prefer that applications do the right thing and expose those controls, but in the meanwhile, we'd like you to enjoy everything Monaspace has to offer. The frozen formats are just like the static builds of Monaspace, but with the various OpenType features turned on by default. When using the frozen builds of Monaspace, you get texture healing and all the ligatures on by default, but you give up the fine-grained control of enabling specific stylistic sets and character variants.

I have found that font ligatures are always enabled in Xcode and there is no way to disable them. Why?
This seems to be the reason why JetBrains Mono provides font files with the suffix NL (No Ligatures).
I feel that it is difficult to generate code for complex OpenType Features, at least with the current LLM.
It may be difficult for the Transformer, which calculates probability distributions with Decoder, to output strict character substitution rules due to its mechanism.
A character is an interface for a language, and a font is an API that defines it.
To make fonts is a protocol formulation process that determines the interaction between mankind and language.

So I really thought that $HELVETICA token that @elih brought up yesterday was an interesting situation, but that would have required it being operated by a DAO that is in official talks with Monotype about buying Helvetica out. Basically, in my understanding, they would have agreed on a price, and once the token reaches that market cap, the token would have been deleted, money transferred to Monotype, and font ownership transferred (or such, idk). But I couldn’t find any such a thing.

As I understand, this is a campaign in the crypto community to buy the license from Monotype.
@elih I don't completely trust its developers, but I agree with your thoughts 🤝
@scott I guess it's one of the meme campaigns in the crypto community🤔
@elih Understood. I've just acquired $HELVETICA for 0.01ETH too👍
Is Monotype involved in this? https://x.com/HelveticaOnX/status/1866458855938355367
