Just got back from watching Red One. If you want a silly, fun Christmas action movie, this is it.
And if you don't want that... yes you do.

No, Microsoft isnβt using your Office docs to train its AI https://www.theverge.com/2024/11/27/24307284/microsoft-debunks-office-ai-data-scraping-rumors
If you plan to vote on Tuesday, a helpful way to decide on who to vote for is that if you wouldn't trust a person to care for your child, or even a pet, maybe you shouldn't vote for them to be President. Just a thought. π€·

I have a lot of respect for Joe Biden regardless of his political policies because he's a man with a stutter who never let that stop him. Having said that, I'm glad he's taking this step because I think it's best for the country & for him. I hope people will give Kamala Harris an honest look. I know I will be over the next few weeks. Former President Trump is just too extreme to be in power again with plans like Project 2025 & massive replacements of federal civil servants.
We're very late to it, but my wife and I just watched Wonka. IT WAS SO GOOD! If you have Max (the streaming service), you have to watch it. If you don't have Max, sign up for a month and watch it. Seriously, it's an easy 10/10 for me. π«
If there's anyone who is a newer women's basketball fan and is starting to follow the #wnba, I just want to say WELCOME ABOARD! Games start Tuesday night, so be sure to tune in!
Also, this may sound weird, but I mean it genuinely: if anyone has questions about the WNBA just let me know. I'm by no means an expert, but I've been following the league pretty closely for years & I'd love to share what I've learned with anyone.
I really wish that RP heavy games like #BaldursGate3 would have an option to build out a character in their in-game character creation system, then save that for later. The only way to do that now is to go through the whole process to start the game, then make a manual save. I just want to play around with races, classes, all the cosmetics, then save that for a future run.
Also, I'm planning my next run of BG3 if you can't tell. That game is soooo good! Larian Studios did an amazing job.
I finally got to watch the Dungeons & Dragons movie, and it was a lot of fun! Even as someone who doesn't know a whole lot about the actual rules & mechanics of D&D, it was still a really fun time.
Ever since I started to get back into Critical Role (& especially after I finally bought and started playing Baulders Gate 3), I've been seeing ads for every possible D&D related product, accessory, lore book, etc possible. I hate targeting advertising and think it's surveillance that should be heavily regulated, but in this one instance, I actually love it! π€π²πΈ
It's not Christmas without the annual anxiety attack while at my in-laws big Christmas. ππ°
I love them, and they are great, but there are approximately a million of them, so it's overwhelming for someone with social anxiety (to say the least).
Merry Christmas from your neighborhood nerd who loves Hereford cattle & new tech like generative AI! ππ

Merry Christmas from the anxious cat hiding from the heathen cat who has been running around.
Just got home from watching The Marvels. I will fully admit that I'm a Captain Marvel fanboy from way back, but it was SO GOOD!!! This is easily the best Marvel movie since Spider-Man No Way Home.
If you are a Marvel fan at all, please go see it. It's very, very good!
I β€οΈ #StarTrek! :-)
I got access to DALL-E 3 today (through ChatGPT Plus). It's wild what it can put out! Here's what AI generation can do with just some back & forth prompts. Have to start with Hereford bulls!
Are they flawless? Goodness no.
But it's not bad for spending 20 minutes on it.
Also, I had to do a Star Trek one too because I'm a giant nerd, and this feels futuristic already. π
If you weren't able to attend or watch live, you can watch the recorded videos on the main event page here: https://www.vanderbilt.edu/free-expression/ai-symposium.
Thanks again to both Vanderbilt & The Future of Free Speech for hosting the Symposium on AI, Free Speech, & Human Rights last week. As a tech policy nerd & someone who is working on ways to advise people on using generative AI, the event was a great experience. I loved hearing everyone's points of view, even if I didn't agree with everything said (which is why events like this are great). I don't know if I'll have the chance to attend more events like this in the future, but I really hope I do.
I wish more in person conferences or symposiums had a way for audience members to submit questions to a panel besides speaking out loud. I just watched a great panel where I wanted to bring up an issue in the Q/A, but I didn't because I knew I would stutter & struggle to speak.
Excited for the last session of the Vanderbilt AI, Free Speech, and Human Rights Symposium which is centered on Disinformation in Generative AI.
Nothing like ending the two days on a easy & light topic!
