@ProtectTheKids @fae2535 Ja, das Infektionsgeschehen reduziert sich, wenn man sich die Fälle pro Jahr anschaut. Von der Dynamik her sind wir jetzt einfach wieder in einem Wellental, wie es 2023 und 2024 auch war. Die Aussage ergibt nur Sinn, wenn man die Welle 2024 ignoriert hat. Die paar Wochen Unterschied machen es insgesamt auch nicht.

@ProtectTheKids @fae2535 Ein Wellental hatten wir letztes Jahr auch. Dementsprechend qualifiziert sich das jetzige nicht für »relativ lange Zeit ohne viel Aktivität«.

Besser wäre: Wir haben eine relativ lange Zeit ohne großen Sprung in der Immunflucht der Varianten gehabt. Was auch für »Nimbus« gilt.

Ansonsten kann man die Zahlen (offiziell, DZF, korrigiert) oben im Link bis Pandemieanfang interaktiv durchgehen. Ist von Rutgers Arbeit inspiriert. :)

@croissant Yes, we have wastewater surveillance (AMELAG). Corona tests are rare, but regular, which is why I calculate the dark figure factor on the basis of hospitalizations and scaled with wastewater values (light blue are the official values, dark blue are my corrected values).

An irrelevant small group gets vaccinated. If this increases again due to the combined influenza/Covid vaccine, I will have to adjust my calculation because the hospitalization rate will then change.

@croissant I assume that things will be similar elsewhere. In this respect, there may be people who get infected 1-4 times a year, but that is not an average.

I am aware that the situation can change quickly due to VoC, but we should also recognize what is currently happening.

When I look at how Nimbus, for example, is being hyped, it's the same disinformation that we accuse the trivializing side of. 2/2

@croissant I am trying to calculate the dark figure factor for Germany (https://covidisnotover.info/aktuelle-corona-infektionen/) and the infection situation is currently calming down. In 2024, we had around half as many infections as in 2023. This is in line with other models that try to calculate the DFF. According to the current status and modeling, we will also end up below 2024 in 2025 (but the wave is only just building up).

@subjacentish @EricCarroll Near-field transmissions are the core of the problem and can only be solved if we as a society learn to show serious consideration for each other (muahahaha 🤣) or if politicians make the policy decisions they should have made in 2020. There are ways without needing the cooperation of 8 billion people.
