Major Surf beta dropping today which introduces Starter Sets for the open social web. Now you can benefit from other people's curation to quickly and easily make highly useful, personalized feeds for each of your interests.

For example, combine "Tech Builders and Thinkers", "Guardians of The Fediverse" and "Tech posts from My Mastodon Follows" to get a personalized tech feed that includes interesting people and posts from Mastodon, Threads, Flipboard, Pixelfed, Bluesky and more.

The one challenge that remains is that at events meant to bring the fediverse and atmosphere worlds together like we did at SXSW, it’s not ideal branding to say “come see us at the Open Social Web House!” :-)

@liaizon @Nelfan @bsky.app @pfrazee.com @dot_social I agree with this. For example, email has been based on some combo of pop3, imap, smtp. Mainstream users don’t care. It’s still just email.

@mastodonmigration @liaizon @Nelfan @bsky.app @pfrazee.com @dot_social here’s the thing: I am trying to evangelize the fediverse to people who don’t even know what it is so we can get a lot more adoption and awareness. I’m taking a big tent approach I.e. Fediverse is not just apps that use activitypub (only technical people understand this) it’s a movement focused on wresting control from the walled gardens.

That said, I’ve heard this feedback before and so I have more often been referring to the whole movement as the open social web which is inclusive of ActivityPub and AT proto. While I know this is not perfect either I think it’s important that we clearly name and position our movement in order to advance it rather than confusing it with detail and nuance that few will understand.

One of the biggest benefits — by far — of using Patreon for payments in Delta is the ability to issue refunds. I genuinely can’t imagine handling our customer support without that
