@mastodonmigration @liaizon @Nelfan @bsky.app @pfrazee.com @dot_social thanks MM. I think this is helpful. Going forward I’ll try to refer to the open social web as the umbrella term to avoid the confusion wherever possible.
The one challenge that remains is that at events meant to bring the fediverse and atmosphere worlds together like we did at SXSW, it’s not ideal branding to say “come see us at the Open Social Web House!” :-)
Listen in to the latest in tech in this @surf custom feed created by @mike.
Tech Insiders features over 60 podcasts and is the ultimate playlist to keep up with industry news.

I loved talking with @rudyfraser.com for this episode of #dotsocial
Rudy is one of the most visionary builders and thinkers of the social web today. He helped me realize that the success of the social web is not about killer apps. It's about killer communities. Once you internalize this insight, the entire world looks different.
Check it out here on our PeerTube channel or wherever you get your podcasts.

This was such a great interview, been aware of this but only in part. So good to see where things are and the forward momentum.
Absolutely fantastic video from the #ATmophere conference

Sometime when you have a messy office….you just got to vibe out.
@calebknueven I’m so happy you are sharing to the fediverse!!! Seeing this in Surf right now. Let me know if you want an invite to the beta.
I thought this interview with Jay Graber was pretty insightful. Ignore the dumb headline; I'm excited for what's next for the open social web. https://www.wired.com/story/big-interview-jay-graber-bluesky/

@liaizon @Nelfan @bsky.app @pfrazee.com @dot_social I agree with this. For example, email has been based on some combo of pop3, imap, smtp. Mainstream users don’t care. It’s still just email.
@mastodonmigration @liaizon @Nelfan @bsky.app @pfrazee.com @dot_social here’s the thing: I am trying to evangelize the fediverse to people who don’t even know what it is so we can get a lot more adoption and awareness. I’m taking a big tent approach I.e. Fediverse is not just apps that use activitypub (only technical people understand this) it’s a movement focused on wresting control from the walled gardens.
That said, I’ve heard this feedback before and so I have more often been referring to the whole movement as the open social web which is inclusive of ActivityPub and AT proto. While I know this is not perfect either I think it’s important that we clearly name and position our movement in order to advance it rather than confusing it with detail and nuance that few will understand.
One of the biggest benefits — by far — of using Patreon for payments in Delta is the ability to issue refunds. I genuinely can’t imagine handling our customer support without that

A few days ago I had the opportunity to sit down with @leo @jeffjarvis and @parismartineau to talk about the open social web and the work we're doing with @surf
It was a wide ranging discussion and an absolute pleasure to go deep on all things fediverse with these legends.

This NYT interview with Bill Gates is really something.
On Elon Musk: "He's the one who cut the U.S.A.I.D. budget. He put it in the wood chipper, because he didn't go to a party that weekend."
"The world's richest man has been involved in the deaths of the world's poorest children."

Light spills through ancient sentinels, catching the quiet air, as each beam drifts through the stillness and gathers in those hidden corners where the forest feels most alive...the magical spaces where time lingers and the world softens into wonder.
