I did report this to #Misskey's issue tracker, but I highly doubt they can do anything about it. It is not their fault in the first place anyway... https://github.com/misskey-dev/misskey/issues/12764

So uhh... If it isn't obvious already I broke everything in #Makai. #Misskey refuses to start properly at all, and I didn't do a backup of the database (what a stupid mistake I did there! Fuck me). Downgrading back to 2023.11.1 results in profile pages not loading and not being able to login.

Looks like Makai is gonna be down for a while. All because of my incompetence and this stupid #FreeBSD getting neglected by #node libraries Misskey is dependent on :(

just to give you an idea of where we're at in argentina after 4 days of the new administration:
- the currency was devalued over 100% overnight
- food and gas prices are soaring and the government said if the food is too expensive, dont buy it and the prices will go down (!)

- public transit fairs are going to multiply by 10x starting in january
- the finance minister, when asked if wages will go up after the devaluation, said "idk, i guess workers will negotiate better wages now"

- the security minister just said that when police are called out for protests, whoever was protesting will be sent a bill to pay for the police (!)
- the libertarian anti-tax president already raised taxes and is about to reimplement an income tax that he just voted to remove(!)

oh yeah and theyve cancelled all infrastructure projects (literally called obras PUBLICAS in spanish) and said the private sector will have to take care of building roads and sewers and bridges LOLLLLLLLLLLL

the whole campaign was basically to "end the caste" (drain the swamp) and that "the caste will pay" so of course the caste all ended up with all of the cabinet positions and government jobs and the people are left to pick up the tab, as always 🙃🙃🙃

There is no rational reason for Mastodon to limit posts to 500 characters by default.

If the limit was 100s of KB, people who still wanted to divide every thought up into a thread still could; nothing stopping them.

But if someone wanted to post a gigantic essay, they also could, and I'd see a little "More >>" link and I could ignore them faster.

We have decades of history proving that length limits do not make people concise: they just make people post threads.
