Journal – 012925

I have been feeling tired and overall not feeling health. I am eating right, but feel sick at the same time. Yesterday I was going to take a day off at work but we had 4 people sick, so I had to work through it. Today is an easy day, just a lot of meetings and little actual work. My sleeping habits are the same but I am not getting the rest I need for some reason.

I met my new neighbours today while going outside to enjoy the sunset in my backyard. They are a very nice couple with an older son. While watching the sunset I thought to myself that I need a break from work. But it isn't a good time to do so because I am training two new employees and have another employee on perterity leave for two weeks.

Today went well. On the way to work, I could see Mars bright in the clear and dark sky. I wish I still had a telescope to see it better. The roads were icy in some areas. Once on the freeway, the road conditions were fine. I arrived early and used the time to study Portuguese and plan out my day.

I went to Leavenworth over the weekend to just walk around and enjoy the scenery. It was cold but beautiful. I believe the last time I was before Covid hit. A lot has changed. They have closed the street that leads into the vilage. A welcomed change. There were just too many pedestrians to have cars going in and out of the area.

It has been a worlwind of a week so far. I am making a lot of changes on my team and how I do things at work. I am also training people and making purchasing decisions for the company. This week, I am hosting interviews for new positions. I need to get everything on my plate taken care of by the end of the week.

Yesterday was allot of changes to the team structure and schedule. Everyone was fine with it and didn't complain, which surprised me. People don't like change of any sort and always pushed back on it. It wasn't unreasonable change just a lot of small changes and set expectations. Today I have to redo the everyone schedule and publish them. I am using Ticktick to schedule all my task for the day and it helps a lot.

Wednesdays are one of my most busiest days at work. I have meetings all day with eveyone. My one on ones, team meeting I host, and talk to other managers. During all this, I have to check up on everyone that I am responsible for to ensure they are working. Did I mention I also host interviews. I had one yesterday and have another one tomorrow.

I haven't done a journal entry for a very long time. About a year, I believe. I stopped doing online journaling for a few reasons that I mentioned in previous entries. Since moving to Blueskies, I am thinking of starting it up again. This year, I will be studying once more to expand my career. I have been a manager for almost two years, and I want to step it up to the next level.

I had a typical Thursday. I washed clothes and cleaned up the house. I'm not sure if I will continue to journal write online. I could use the time to author articles or work on a podcast I always dreamt about doing. Still thinking about it. My online journals are boring. The daily things I do is pretty much what most people do.

Got home and my camping bunk bed for the kids had arrived. We set it up in the living room to check it out. It's a Disc-O-Bed XL Cot Bunk Bed. It was the perfect size for me and roomy for the kids. This will be great for our upcoming camping trips. I need to put the tent up this Sunday and place everything inside to make sure everything works together. Hopefully, this gives us more room inside the tent. 🌧️ 52°F - 39°F 😐 | Seattle

Nothing much happened today. Work was the usual meetings and resolving agents' issues. I made some discounted steaks I got from the market. They were nice and tender. I reduced the consumption of meat because of the cost. Inflation puts meat just a bit too high. I noticed the market has reduced the selection due to the lack of purchasing. Since I go shopping right when the store opens, I can find discounted meats that weren't sold the other day that…

Interesting day at work. Half the agents called in sick, and I hosted an interview. I know a lot of people that are sick right now. I am not sure what is going through, but it hopefully peaked yesterday and is on the way down. The interview went pretty badly. I understand that resumes are padded. But this guy said things that were not true at all.

I got up early with my son and went shopping for food and some items. It is really nice to go shopping before anyone is up. It saves so much time and we can talk about things without feeling rushed or yelling over the crowds of people. We headed to the mall for our walk and window shopping. The mall is decorated with Dragons for Chinese New Year.

I enjoyed a lazy Saturday with my son watching cartoons and video games. I even took a nap on the couch with a cat in my lap. In the afternoon me and my wife cleared out the bedroom to clean everything in the bedroom. The room looks great. She just needs to go through all her clothes and pull items out that she no longer needs.

Another day full of meetings. Glad this week is over. We lost two agents, and a lot of changes are underway. I need to get out and do something that is not in front of a computer or desk. I treated the kids to McDonald for dinner and watched a Pokémon movie that I haven't seen before. It came out in 2019.

Another hectic day at work. The director asked a lot of us in a brief period of time. I got most of the things done but will need to finish up tomorrow morning. I am not stressed at all, just tired of the last minute this needs to be done now bs we had to do. It pulled me away from 2 crucial items I needed to do today.

I lost an agent from my team. He was the new guy and wasn't able to handle the pressure. He was so close to getting over the bump and it would have been easier for him. There is a lot of knowledge to absorb. But once you get it, it's easy. He will be missed. I was very tired after my workday, so I took a nap when I arrived home. After dinner I played a game called Cheese Touch with the kids. It's a pretty fun game.  🌦️ 50°F - 42°F 🥱 | Seattle

Today was a snapping point for me at work. External teams were not doing their workload and it was effecting my team for way too long. I have restructured everyone's job duties and their time schedules. It was all over the place and it didn't make sense on how the company operates today. I had a very long discussion with the director on specific issues and how I was going to resolve them.

I think I have figured out most of the team's issues at work. It is a schedule/duties issue. A lot of the scheduling is inherited from the previous manager. I talked to the director and the team to discuss the schedule. It looks like everyone can come in earlier. If this is the case, I can change the duties around to include first replies in the morning.
