@peter I’m upset that I already knew that without looking it up.
Books, tech, animals, old stuff. Ex-librarian, ex-editor, current ed tech manager. Keeper of paperbacks (http://mapbackindex.com). You might know me as VintageReader. She/her.
Of course my writing sounds like an LLM. I've been writing technical doc for 40 years. Who the fuck do you think the LLM trained on?
@joyousjoyness (At least, I *think* it was a compliment)
@joyousjoyness “Ives, you baffle science.” [My friend Steven, Easter 1985, when I went to the university cafeteria after “work” (I got paid to sing in a church choir) wearing a black hat with a HUGE pink cabbage rose on one side and a vintage suit]
@christineburns They might have, but I quit reading after I finally got to the One Cool Trick. 😆 That is really useful to know, though.

TL;DR Tap & hold to speed videos up to 2x; release to return to 1x. I read the clickbait headline + several paragraphs of fluff so you don’t have to.
I was brought up to believe that people who were still shopping on Christmas Eve were inefficient procrastinators. But folks, I was at T.J. Maxx at 7:20 this morning, and got some awesome presents AND a recommendation for a hairstylist from a woman whose hair I complimented. People were cheerful & nice. It was altogether delightful. Might be my new tradition.
@jzb The weather is not helping. I keep reading “unseasonably warm” as “unconscionably warm.” Anyway, hope yours turns out OK and you can sneak in some quiet movie time. We’re grilling for Christmas Eve bc a) empty nest; and b) see “unconscionably warm.” 🤣
@jzb On Saturday I told the obviously stressed-out tech at my optometrist’s office “By this time next week, Christmas will be over!” and she visibly cheered up.
thinking about how TVs originally had curved screens, then through advanced technology we made TV screens flat, now via Even More Technology we made TV screens Curved Again But The Other Way
Yes more good news for the shortest day - my heart is positively racing it canna take it 😂
Cranes made a comeback in #Scotland after a 500-year absence. The crane — once a mainstay of medieval banquets — disappeared due to hunting and habitat loss. The birds are now recolonising naturally thanks to the restoration of their wetland habitats by conservationists. This summer up to six breeding pairs were recorded in #Aberdeenshire.
It is the end of the year and you're walking through fresh snow under the Northern Lights and you feel a little endless ❄

@jalefkowit @g I like those. I bought some fancy Bosch ones that I can’t get to clip on, but also can’t return bc I no longer have the weird box they came in 🙄

@rednikki I’ve been using Vivaldi on iOS (and Windows and Mac) for a couple of years, and I like it a lot.
@madeindex Built-in VPN too, but I had to turn it off bc it seemed to conflict with my other VPN. :-)
