People have begun demonstrating at Tesla outlets against the agenda of Elon Musk and other tech billionaires who are seeking to consolidate power under Donald Trump.
Some have held signs and chanted outside dealerships. Some have created disruptions inside.
A Tesla dealership in Loveland, Colorado has been vandalized three times in the past three months, with red spray paint across the windshields and broken glass in the lot.
Last year, in Germany, some anarchists blocked the expansion of the Tesla Gigafactory by occupying the adjacent forest; other anarchists used direct action to shut down power supply to the factory.
Musk and his cronies are concentrating power in their hands through the market as well as through the apparatus of the state. In both of those contexts, the cards are stacked against us. They hope we will remain passive as they exploit us and profit at our expense.
But it is a mistake to be passive.

The evening resembled a Mafia-style shakedown. Implicit was the threat that the Nazis planned on being in power for a long time and these tycoons had to decide whether they wanted to be on the Nazi train or not. Those left on the platform knew that life would become, at the very least, uncomfortable for them. But there was more to the evening than straightforward threat; there was also self-interest. Hitler was promising stability and the chance to make money. And what businessman present wouldn’t find that attractive? The fact that this was a regime committed to destroying its enemies and persecuting the Jews – although Hitler had been careful to make no reference to Jews at the meeting – was of little concern."

Every time I log into Fedi, I see another post with a guide called something like "Activist's Guide to Smartphones" or "Phone Security Guide for Protesters," and every single one of these assumes that the threat model is the kind of police force that exists under liberal democracy where the law will afford significant protections to protesters. The world is changing, and these guides not only fail to address the threat of an actively hostile fascistic anti-democratic occupying force (I refer here to the police), but such guides generally are limited to "what" and "how" but miss the more critical "why."
If you believe that you are facing fascism (or even something close to it), can I please please please convince you to read something written by anarchists who have faced serious repression and are trying to convey just how much phones can lead to the imprisonment of you and your friends for even things that are allegedly "legal."
