There are no "verified" badges on here. If you see someone using a symbol like :verified: it's just a custom emoji that means absolutely nothing.

However, there are still ways you can verify your identity on here. For example we know that the European Commission's official account is @EU_Commission

The last time we had a big user influx (when Melon Husk announced buying birdsite back in April), a lot of our new users experienced an emotional surge on realising that they didn't have to compete with the algorithms any more; no punishment for using or not using hashtags, for including links in posts, for posting too little or too often. A lot of people were deep in creative blocks from the stress of it all.

I’m part of a co-op building a platform for artists to sell art without getting exploited. I’ve been working on it for a while but there’s a lot of work to do and I could use some help. A ton of the main features are in place, but there’s still some big gaps and a lot of polish left before it can launch.

The platform is fully open source and developed in the open. It’s built on Phoenix/Elixir and Tailwindcss. Our co-op is already incorporated and established and it’s open to members that want to actually commit but you don’t need to be a member to contribute or help.

Does this sound interesting? I’d love some help! I’m also happy to answer questions. And no, you don’t need to know Elixir already. It’s pretty easy to learn for the things you’d be using it for. Even some design help would be welcome. Feel free to reply here or DM me!

Not all heroes wear capes

@schnittchen this is the reason I’m avoiding Python like the plague. Yet, I also lack alternatives, unfortunately. I’ve come to focus on compiled binaries instead (ie I write my portable scripts in Rust or Go) but that’s hardly the same approach as using a scripting language :/

bash could also be a solution. But it’s a pain once you have to deal with anything that relates to parsing/handling data structures..
