View over lake Ägeri from the White Cross. By far the best view available a short distance from home: 37 minutes from my front door today. At 15°C and sunny, it was already as hot as I’d like it to get.

To complete my trio of Easter weekend hikes, I went up to the White Cross over the #Aegerital. Short and sweet but still enough ascent to get my heart pumping. Over the last three days I have ascended the west, south, and north rims of this valley.

For my Karfreitag (Good Friday) day off, I hiked up and around the top of the Zugerberg, which separates the #Aegerital from lake Zug. It was a damp, misty, overcast morning, but surprisingly I was still underneath the cloud layer and had some views into the distance.

Hiked up the #Wildspitz for the fourth time in four months. This was the easiest visit yet; maybe I’m actually getting into shape? Perfect weather for it today. The Zwetschgen (plum) pie at the Berggasthaus is lovely.

Did a combo bike ride / hike to scout for wildflowers on some of the outlying farm fields in the #Aegerital. There were some, but I think we’re still a month short of peak. Bonus photo of the deer skull on the wall of what we’ve dubbed the Druidhütte.

Had a lovely hike up the Wildspitz and down to Sattel today. I spent two hours at the Berggasthaus up top enjoying the views (and coffee and soup and plum pie with whipped cream and hot tea). I made this trip almost 90 minutes faster than 8 weeks ago, partly because there was very little snow on the ascent, and partly because I was able to take a shorter, steeper descent now that the snows have melted (but I like to pretend it’s also because I’m in slightly better shape).

Happy March! I decided to take advantage of Thursday’s light snow to snowshoe up at Sattel-Hochstuckli. Completely overcast and at times even the trails were obscured in low clouds, so no views but plenty of snowy pastures and forest. #Schwyz #Schweiz

With a little fresh snow down in the valley yesterday, I knew I should head up to the Ratenpass this morning to check out the snow. Snowshoeing through fresh snow is one of life’s little pleasures. This morning I even got to break trail for extra workout. Kept it short to make the hourly bus back to town.
