I realize this is something that people in the US are typically not taught - gods know I grew up in a conservative context - but this is, in fact, important to keep in mind if you're trying to get people to take action rather than deliberately avoid things.
Consent fucking matters, and one person choosing to engage is worth a thousand people randomly being exposed.
And likewise, consent-gating things that others may find upsetting is a useful way to encourage people to -choose- to engage with the content; if people make the deliberate choice -to- engage with it, knowing the kind of thing that it is, that means they are likely to respond sympathetically to your desire for taking action.
People who are -not- traumatized are able to discuss with their neighbors and friends the -kind- of things that are happening, and to understand that your friends and neighbors have sympathy for your emotive responses without having to specifically experience the same fucking trauma.
Because yes, you -can- talk about the outrages going on without reciting the Litany Of Wrongs.
And you -can- encourage people to take action - because that's honestly what you want; "care" is a very abstract fucking term that, honestly, nobody who ever fucking shouted at me -to- care more could ever fucking define what I could do to satisfy their need for me to perform 'caring' - by discussing the kinds of actions that would be -actually helpful- with them, and discuss feasable plans that are within their reach for the kinds of actions you want taken.
And this may be an unfortunate shock to some people,
but if you're thinking that you -have- to throw violent videos in peoples faces "so that they know what's going on"
You need therapy, because you are exhibiting a specific etiology of PTSD.
"There's no way they can understand unless they experience the same thing" is a -trauma response-
Flinging those at other people is, again, not going to make them 'care' the way you do; it is going to drive avoidant behaviors and the aforementioned vicious fucking cycle.

Throwing 'shocking' videos at people - especially unexpectedly - is not going to result in activist activation in most cases.
Instead, most people are going to find this traumatizing and take steps to avoid this.
Which is going to exacerbate the frustration of the people who are concerned because "nobody cares" about the outrages
Which causes them to try shoving even more 'shocking' content in people's faces
Resulting in more avoidant behaviors

Here's a hint: inflicting PTSD on people does not result in them -caring- and typically results in -avoidant- behavior.

- Downloaded a git archive from GitHub (the "archive" endpoint, i.e. the .zip/.tar.gz for the files in a git repo at e.g. a tag)
- Had the file successfully transferred, in terms of the HTTP request succeeding
- Had the file be wrong?
Please share any information if you've run into this. As of posting, I've heard three instances of this possibly happening, but all were chalked up as unreproducible random issues. This doesn't feel right.
@munin it sucks. I have given up going to any meetups too, because its the only conversation. There is a TON of other stuff going on in our world and all the discussion of LLM bs. I don't like it one bit.
