I dunno how I've been missing it but this year I learned about the GDC audio bundles they release every year. If you somehow also have not heard about it, go check it out. Massive library of free (free) audio assets.
Here's a link

Hey just want to clear something up because Iβm seeing a lot of panic around student loans and wage garnishment, and I think some of it is coming from misinformation (probably amplified by some fearmongering voices on the far left π¬).
π If you're NOT in default on your federal student loans, you are not at risk of wage garnishment or aggressive collections.
Default means you've gone 270+ days without a payment, so unless thatβs you, this does not apply.
Most people I know (and Iβm guessing many of you too) are on Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) plans, possibly even with $0 payments due, and those are totally fine. I'm on one myself β low interest, paused payments, and fully in good standing. No collections, no threats, no drama.
Whatβs actually happening:
πΉ Starting May 5, 2025, the Department of Education is resuming collections β but only on loans that are in DEFAULT.
πΉ That could include things like wage garnishment, but only for people who havenβt made a payment in nearly a year.
πΉ Official source here: https://www.ed.gov/about/news/press-release/us-department-of-education-begin-federal-student-loan-collections-other-actions-help-borrowers-get-back-repayment
If you're unsure, log in at studentaid.gov and check your status. If youβre on an IDR plan and in good standing, you're fine. Donβt let the noise mess with your peace of mind.
Stay informed, and donβt let the propaganda (left or right) run your life π

@scottrossi@mastodon.social If you aren't in default the changes don't affect you. I might need to share my facebook post about the misinformation libs are spreading about this topic..

Maybe I can finally post my soap box rant about the unspoken trade-offs we all accepted leaving you know where for fediverse without getting shadowbanned over it π

I've found a ton of insightful, motivating, and supportive posts on LinkedIn and Substack. Some employers are aware of the hell that is the job market right now and trying to help people near the bottom rungs get their grips and keep the career climb going. Nothing lifechanging, but plenty of things to help keep the wheels spinning between applications. Plenty of other social sites have wholesome and motivational posts but I've found those two places the most inspiring for me.
My kind of cozy is a thick raunchy sci-fi split open between my cat and bookmark or watching black and white movies on a CRT widescreen with over-salted popcorn and the softest throw to keep me wurmth in. What's yours?

Reading speed calculator that uses wpm like typing speed
Shouldn't be difficult to crack 200 in the slightest. That's about 3-4 words per second
Whoops I definitely didn't notice you'd already found and calculated your reading speed before I replied heh β:astolfo_shy:β

Is there a way that I can disable the MFM confirmation popup without changing my OS animation setting? I use Opera GX or Firefox if that matters
β:akko_shrug:β No biggie if it can't be done, already changed the OS setting, I'd prefer to have it off to save my resources though.
