@Orla1 @abrignoni thank you both!
AppSec is the snacksec. Always learning something new. Love cats, fiber arts and cold weather.
@Orla1 @abrignoni thank you both!
So I may have missed it, but is there any way to change your username on a specific server, or once you create an account that's it?
On one hand, dating someone who runs their own email server shows lasting commitment even during unpleasant periods. On the other hand, they're crazy.
With each new surge of Mastodon users, I feel the need to point out:
1. Welcome!
2. There is a learning curve here, but most people find it short and not very steep. Play around, explore. You'll get it.
3. Lots of people are willing to help.
4. Yes, it's different than Twitter. Sometimes in good ways, sometimes not. But you'll figure it out.
5. With surges especially, things sometimes get slow/glitchy, but they usually get fixed pretty quick.
Be patient.

Birches and hoar frost. Rare and beautiful conditions this week in Cumbria. #photo #photography #landscapephotography #winter
@Steve also loving this cold weather. ✨ It's how I'm used to Winter feeling like, but I really should get out in it more!
Proposal… lets make a plugin that replaces the word “huddle” with “snuggle” in slack.

@SheHacksPurple Ty! Everyone needs some good SnackOps!
I have written a Python script that takes my Mastodon feed and turns it into #teletext pages, and I consider this time well spent.

For those unaware, hashtags mean different things here.
On mastodon, you can ONLY search for usernames and hashtags. So if you were into, say, model trains and wanted to get input from the wider model train community, you could use the tag “modeltrains “ on your post, and others who searched would find it.
Or, if you wanted to post about something that you’d rather not get input on from the community at large, like a hot-button political issue, you can leave the tag off
🧵#hashtags
Yikes! That’s some number. This just goes to show how difficult a task it is when it comes to software supply chains, especially in terms of open source libraries.
I love to boost people who talk about their daily lives and the things that they do in it.
Too often "social media" is just a news aggregate. We post about things we think others need to know about or consider.
But I think when this is all we do, we lose touch with what it means to be human. I like being reminded that X has an annoying cat. I like knowing that Z is struggling with repairing their washing machine.
I like knowing there are people just trying to live their lives. Just like I am.
As a developer attending a workshop on application security (think: how to secure your Node.js backend, or your React frontend)
What sort of flow, outline, learnings and outcomes would you wish to get out of it?
Do you expect slides? coding? running exploits and hacking?
Would love some insights please 🙏🏼
when the project website looks like one of the very first websites—just a bunch of plain text, maybe a few hyperlinks, no color or images whatsoever—you know it's an essential low-level library that half of all software relies on
