@mollyconger one of the limitations of this massively federated system of servers is there's no simple way to search across the entire #Fediverse. What we have instead, much like the old days of #twitter, is hashtags, which do get indexed everywhere. The best way to spread the Good News Of Buck and Otto is via #dogsofmastodon, #puppers, #DachshundsOfMastodon, etc

Looks like the new user rate is slowing down somewhat, but still elevated.

For the last couple hours Mastodon added around 2000 users per hour. The surge peaked at 78K users in one 24 hour period.

While there have been a few slowdowns, Mastodon has handled this surge well. The volume was not as high as before, there are many more servers now, and instance administration is more experience and are better prepared.

So I understand that the bird site has started blocking links to common/known Mastodon instances, and that doesn't seem like free speech to me. So... I did a thing.

If you go to https://spacekaren.sucks it is now a URL shortener that blocks the twitter user agent. That means you can share that link that will redirect to your Mastodon account without the pouty baby stopping you. i think i imported the file that will allow me to follow on here everyone i follow on twitter who had their mastodon handle in their bio? the file will process "in due time," but i have no benchmark for how much time is due.

@sophie I think it still depends on which instance you're on. As far as I understand it mastodon.social is still a trash fire, moderation-wise. You might get more informed answers by tagging something like #BlackMastodon though.
