[This post contains an error in the number of Twitter users. Check the new one here: https://mastodon.social/@estebanmoro/109302968305953555 ] Something big is happening in Mastodon over the weekend. Here is my graph, updated. Right now Mastodon is growing ~3 times faster than Twitter.

The plot shows the graph of the number of new users in the Mastodon platform as a function of the date for the last month. It can be seen that until Musk's purchase was completed, the daily new users were about one thousand. It jumped to twenty-five thousand after that after the Twitter layoffs on November 4th it is now growing every day. Right now is around eighty-five thousand new users per day
